She's not the only one to have stopped posting.

Sounds like sulking to me.

Moreover, if you have 25,0245,5687,669 posts next to to your name it means you're on here A LOT expressing your opinions. Which means, on average, you're going to get on many more people's nerves. Which probably means i) you should stop posting all the time or ii) expect and accept some flak. And in the age of the faceless cyber warriors this eventually gravitates towards some very personal abuse, rightly or wrongly.

Of course in the days before the internet, it was traditional to weigh up your chances of getting a return smack in the mouth before deciding whether to hurl abuse at someone. Life seemed so much easier when defined by such tangible trophic levels.......

I am not for 1 minute suggesting that she did ever insult anybody on here but if you continually agree with everything that the club says or does irrespective of anything people are going to rebel and get uptight. Some may even overstep the mark a little that is a fact of life that you have to accept if you enter a debate on a delicate matter like a mans football team.

That is a ridiculous comment.

Why is it so wrong for Yorkie (or anyone else for that matter) to be so supportive of what the club is doing (or trying to do)?

EVERYONE has the right to an opinion and they also have the right to express it in whatever way they see fit.

This board has always promoted healthy debate and the way it is set up has added to this.

The problems have ONLY ever started when healthy debate degenerates into personal attack. Some people have lower tolerance thresholds than others and the personal attacks then get worse and worse and it all goes OFF.

Some of the comments directed at Yorkie and the things she holds very dear were unnaceptable. As a result, she CHOSE to leave the board for a period of time - how long we don't know, and she should be respected for that, as Safeway said earlier.

Personally I hope she comes back. Her input may not have been everyone's cup of tea but she shouldn't have been forced off the board in the way that she was.

Personally, I think there is more DRIVEL than usual on the board but that is mainly due to the fact that it's the close season.

I love the place!

Good shout.

Does this club not cater to the female section of society or are you still living in the victorian era?

To be fair Ned, this has nothing to do with the club itself. It's to do with people posting on an internet message board.

People keep saying that Yorkie was forced off of here. That's nonsense. It's the internet. She took some stick and decided that posting here wasn't worth the hassle, and fair play to her for that. Saying that she was forced is a bit over dramatic though.

Unfortunately, because of her views, and her sometimes omnipresent need to express them, she copped a lot of flak, some of it unfair, some of it only construed by her from what I saw of the final threads. Yorkie had proved to be thick skinned enough in the past, this is a predominately male football message board after all, but decided to give it a miss for a while.

It's her decision, and it should be respected. I'm sure if she wants to post here again she will. I'm sure she will still be reading all the nonsense that gets posted here, and is probably biting her tongue at a lot of it too!

I disagree and think this statement perfectly sum up what's wrong with our sick society today. Everyone going on about their rights without any consideration for their responsibilities or the affect on others. If your "opinion" is badly informed, inflamatory, disrespectful, offensive to a large group of people blah blah blah etc then airing it - as your right - simply proves you're an arsehole in the eyes of many and little else. Personally I get sick of hearing so called opinions all the time, from the mind numbing chat shows and phone ins to the more carefully considered daily government propaganda. Life's full of wankers letting the world know something they probably knew already, couldn't careless about or was best left alone. Rant over.

(Hiney, not a comment on you really, a side from this single comment, you just touched a "wider topic" nerve)

There is a big difference between having an opinion and being opinionated, NSC presents plenty of evidence to that effect, sometimes it is better to keep ones opinions to oneself or be labelled the latter.

It's also the main message board for BHAFC, and the amount of sexist, mysogynistic and pornographic crap posted on here at times by men old enough to know better is frankly an embarrassment. It's no wonder there are so few female posters on here. You'd think it was 1972, not 2006. And the argument about 'don't click on it if you don't want to read it' is bollogs, that sort of sexist shit should be kept to NSP and deleted by the mods if posted on here.

Fair comment mate.

Reading my post again, I think what I was trying to say is that everyone's got a right to an opionion and different people express them in different ways.

There is, of course, a duty to express your opionion in a way that isn't inflammatory, disrespectful or offensive - I'm with you there.

There are plenty of people on here who ignore (deliberately or otherwise) these basic considerations and they piss the hell out of me.

I suppose the crux of the matter is that different people will REACT in different ways. Some just say 'whatever' and get on with things, some resort to mindless abuse, and some try to intellectualise (is that a PROPER word?) their way out of it.

We all 'hide' behind our keyboards and for some people, that gives them a licence to behave like absolute COCKS.

When did Yorkie personnally abuse any one on this board. She may have challenged what they said and strongly disagreed with their views but respected them as an individual.

So true, what rubbish. Yorkie has always expressed herself with dignity and has never resorted to the profanity and blasphemy not to mention libel that so many here descent too.

You may not agree with her beliefs but she (or anybody else for that matter) should not be ridiculed because of them.

I am still here depite the insults thrown at me although one person came very near to my sons making sure that he ate his dinner through a straw and even now still ask me to point him out when they are in Haywards Heath.

What is the saying if you cant stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

If you give out shit you must expect it back.

The 'inults' you get are merely advice. Unlike Yorkie you have an irritating habit of making events fit your own personal agenda whereas Yorkie believes what she believes rightly or wrongly. I don't know you (I should be thankful for that) but I do know Yorkie. I'd take ten of her to you and your entire family. Tell me, do you propose to set your sons on me ?

Bring it on you sad old fart.

I would certainly never condone ridicule, but the thing about NSC is that by and large there is freedom of speech, almost a case of publish and be damned. For me that is something that is important, far better than censor, the only problem is those who choose to abuse that very freedom that gives them licence to print defamatory bollocks.

That is as maybe, but this is not the official message board, and so it is entirely at the discretion of Bozza and the Mods. If you want watered down nicey nice agreeing with everyone then head to Brightonfans or the official board.

In fact this isn't the "main message board for BHAFC" as it isn't the official, club affiliated board. It is the board with the most members.

Do you not think that the fact there aren't many female members is because the female Albion fans have somethings better to do than sit on here? Or that because the demographic of football fans in general is heavily weighted towards men? I know a fair few of the female fans that use this site, and yes, occassionally some of them have expressed their displeasure at some of the things posted on here, but in the main they are still here and not too upset. Much like some of the things they probably here at the football really, they just ignore the crap and get on with it.

The bottom line is, as I said earlier on this thread, Yorkie's beliefs were mocked. I am an atheist but I still respect others views even if I don't agree with them. To a real believer whatever their creed it's a very personal issue and I think most people have not quite got that.

I think there's a difference between a one line throwaway comment and mocking. I thought Yorkie reacted slightly over the top to it, but as you say, it's personal to her.

Who was it said that in polite society you avoid talk of sex, politics and religion, it isn't bad advice as this thread seems to be proving.
