I see this a lot on here. What's wrong with a good old fashioned "yes"?

I can only imagine how many working hours have been loss with all the extra typing it takes for this over-extended affirmative.

When I use it, it has nothing to do with being posh, and is usually dead pan either to underplay excitement, or in sarcasm, or sarcastically underplaying excitement.
