My G/daughter has fallen ill and too poorly to think much about the X Factor show she's having to miss at the Brighton Centre tonight..

The tickets were bought as a special treat for Mum and g/daughter (aged nearly 9) to have a good girly night out but they can't go now.

I was gobsmacked to fing the tickets were £32.50 EACH with NO reduction for kids and also NO refunds. What a rip off that is. Managed to shift the tickets in the end for £45.00 the pair so still quite a hit. I understand programmes are priced at £10.00. What a total rip off for kids & their parents and all to see a bunch of wannabees, quite a few may well be back stacking shelves next year.

Hopefullt g/daughter will be fit enough to be at the, much better priced, Amex on Saturday.

I assume that like tickets for anything else they were told the price before purchase, and that also no refunds were available. Most venues don't offer kids' discounts as with a limited capacity a seat is a seat, no matter how old the arse that occupies it is.

Hope she feels better.

Absolute daylight robbery, thank god my daughters wanted to swerve it it this year. I've been the last 5 or 6 years, costs at least £200 for a night out, complete bollox!

It's allot of money for a karaoke show, when she is better could you not just take her up to the place at the end of the pier?

That said it's supply and demand....I bet it's sold out?

I'm sure there plenty of parents out there prepared that sort of dosh to watch a load of no mark wannabes who's name they won't remember in 12 months time.

And your girlfriend/daughter/wife bought these tickets of their own free will?

And your point is.........

Kylie gig next week is £80...

That's not really that expensive any more. Quite reasonable when the cheapest ticket to see Bruce Springsteen is £114

Gig prices are a piss take, no Gig should cost more than the C.D. they are trying to plug. It is only because idiots will pay stupid money that the whole gig scene is dying on it's feet.
Decent international artists used to be happy to play auditoriums like the Brighton Centre and do a multi gig tour. Now the 7-10,000 auditoriums are picking up dross acts and the "big boys" go straight to Arena gigs.
f*** sake JLS can demand and fill the 02,The Stadium of Light is pulling in Gig crowds of 40,000 so the acts dont want to work the circuit anymore. The likes of the RHCP can make a fortune out of a few dates.

Bruce Springsteen should hang his socialist head in shame at that ticket price.

I guess part of the reason gig tickets are increasing is to compensate for the drop in physical album sales. Some acts now sign deals which cover recording and live performance, Robbie Williams and Madonna are two. And the gig scene is not dying. Far from it, last year I read that live music attendances have increased five fold in the last 6-7 years. Consider how many music festivals there were 10-15 years ago to now. The increase is astonishing. You have rattled off a number of big name acts which can command a high price. Scratch beneath the surface and you'll find plenty of great artists at reasonable prices, I know as I go to around 20-30 gigs a year minimum.
