How generous has your work been with gifts or bonuses for christmas?

I've got to say my company has really suprised me. One of the directors just sent his PA shopping and I've been given a new mobile, £110 cash, a decent bottle of champagne, huge box of Lindt chocolates and 2 bottles of wine.

f*** all. They let me go home for Christmas this year, and that's about it.

Does stealing stuff count as a bonus?

Naff all.

My company is very good at 'dressed up' 'benefits' like:
– AirMiles after you've been here a couple of years
– tax free loans for computing equipment
– discounts at Majestic Wines and so on.

They can then go on about the extensive efforts they make with employee perks and rewards.

All of which are nice enough I guess, but sometimes a straight "thank you for working your nads off all year" and some cash at Christmas would be preferable.

A picture frame from my boss and a note thanking me for my support all year, I sent her a card wishing her a happy 2006.

Is this the Christmas spirit or plain old hypocrisy? We can't stand the sight of each other and each of our New Year's would be greatly enhanced by the departure of the other.

For my part I paid for all the drinks at my team's Xmas lunch and send them cards with genuine good wishes.

Sorry to disappoint but this is a government scheme and most companies will offer it to you if you ask them. My company are making the same fuss about it, as if they're doing us a favour.

Likewise.

They keep bombarding us with emails on the subject. I don't think the take-up has been great as they are now tempting us with free memory sticks.

The problem may be that it is offered as a 3-year repayment package and, in the current climate where I work, no-one expects to still be there this time next year, let alone 3 years from now.
