Just had to spell the word FABULOUS for someone and realised that I'd never written or typed it in my life before.

Got me thinking that of other words I use all the time but have never written.

So far as I'm aware, no other language has anything equivalent to the Icelandic 'setja upp gestaspjot', a verbal phrase denoting the action taken by a cat when cleaning its arse, with its body curled tightly in a circle and one back leg sticking directly up in the air. Literally it means 'put up a guest-spear' and when a cat was seen doing this it was supposed to indicate that visitors would be turning up.

If someone could invent an English word for this, then I would LOVE to write it!

I once told someone in Taipei that was how to order a beer in chinese but in fact, given the right intonation and a slight grammatical tidy up it means 'your cat is very fat'.

I still can't type it properly however, not knowing what the correct characters are or being able to access them with my keyboard.
