That's a shame, they always seemed to produce quite good sides.

God, I used to hate playing in Hastings - Bulverhythe with its falling down changing rooms or the rock face at the Ridge, quite a choice.

And don't get me started on when we played in Hollington.

Spartan do still exist and have loads of kids teams still in Hastings. The adult side, Spartan Seniors, have just packed up on Sunday Mornings.

His shooting and finishing is dreadful to watch, his tackling and passing is in-consistent or even non-exisitant at times. He does alot of puffing and running around, doesn't show any skill on the ball.

Hammond is dreadful. IMO.

Dreadful? Pah!

He has been left out to dry many a time. Chippy and Hammond IMO, seem to be very similar players. He had a tough time in the championship, which is no great surprise and I think he has been fairly good this season. It has certainly helped by not being paired with chippy. He is a potential engine room for us and he can look quite threatening going forward.

He hasn't had a great many scoring opportunities this season and the one that springs to mind, was a cracking save by Roche.

Dreadful? Very wrong. :nono:

Good effort, but I'm not sure how Dean Hammond ever got spotted by our scouts.

because he was a player with potential?

you could say the same about mcphee, wilkinson, marney, westcott and the other failures to come through - at least hammond has some sort of ability, even if carpenter does drag him down

Oh, cool. Always a bit of a shame when a youth club not connected to a County League side folds.

Bit like if Winkney folded in Eastbourne.

I was hoping we could have a positive thread but you have got a point. If Dean had the sporting mentality of Michael Yardy he would have buried that late chance against Chesterfield. Obviously he knows that. With a more positive attitude at the club and from the fans, I really think he could fulfil the promise he showed in 2004/5.

Lets get behind the team on Sunday and spoil Norman Fraudster's day.

And hes still shit loads better than you kev.

Just to be in the reserve side at any professional club is no mean feat. Just because he isnt the 'new' Viera/Keane/Lampard doesnt mean that hes shit!

Cavendish in Eastbourne has had a few decent sportsmen, Joel Lynch and John Piercy spring to mind.

And John Westcott. Although I have no idea where John is today. or Piercy for that matter.

John Westcott has been a key figure in the revival of Horsham FC. Sadly a debilitating medical condition has caused John Piercy to drop into the county league.

We played against them in cricket last year, nothing really special. I do remember one of their players being run out and throwing their bat and the other player. :lolol:

He threw his bat AND the other player?

Possibly a slight over-reaction, but an impressive show of strength nonetheless. How far did he manage to throw the other player, just out of interest?

The Spartan Club which was formed in the late 70s has produced a few Albion players like Watson, Hammond, McPhee, Ramsey to name but a few.

In the late 70s and early 80s was the pride of Hastings and won many Sussex honours.

Whilst I hate to admit it The Warrior was the founder and inspiration for the club and he should be honoured for providing the club with some of these players!!!! The club do not and will never recognise this!

I played for the club but many younger than me took the club to the top of Sussex sport.

William Parker provides a shining example of excellence within the state sector - the achievement of successive Labour governments in funding educational reform and development is not to be underestimated.

Love the political spin (not) does it always have to be brought up in a sport thread ?

Was it not the Labour controlled ILEA that stopped inter school competitive matches as it stopped those with lesser ability from taking part.

As a schoolboy it was always your dream to play for your form, then house, then school, then district, then county and so forth you always had an aim but taking this compettive spirit out of school children has had a negative affect on players with ability.

Thankfully you are not anywhere near selecting the Albion first team.
