Did we actually pay 500k for Ritchie, I had it in my head that there was a three way deal that took Ward to Forest, Birtles to United and Ritchie to us?

Birtles went to United for £1,200000, Ward went to Forest for £400000 and Ritchie came here for £500000.Personally I think we should have not got involved but Mullery always seemed to have an issue with players he hadn't signed.

I think we had to give Bristol Rovers 1/3 of any profit when we sold Bobby Z, so technically he is our most expensive at £520,000 (£100,000 + 1/3 x £1.4 million)

That's another example of rewriting history. Ward played under Mullery for over 4 years.

I expect the club record to be a 7 digit number by August.

On the basis of what? Please let us know what you have heard?

If our budget is £4 mill ish, including wages. 6/7 new signings cannot possibly mean spending 7 figures on 1 player shirley?

Frutos. You are dead right.
The Albions' turnover will be £15m to £20m, compared to £4.5m at Withdean.

Champ' clubs (those without PL parachute payments) have turnover > £15m. The evidence, in their audited accounts & in Deloitte's tables.

And 70% is typical ratio spent on player wages. Let alone transfer fees.

Brighton now have an awful lot of income.

By 1st September you will be proved correct, possibly in 2 or 3 signings.

and £4m from tv revenue plus a £2m consolidation payment from the Prem to off set parachute payments(that's £6m already)

reckon we will pay £750K for Buckley and he won't end up as our top signing come August.
I think that honour will be reserved for one Kazenga LuaLua

I wish people would stop spending Bloom's money for him, speculating as to how much more of it will be spent. He's just bankrolled our most expensive signing ever as well as having put more money into our club than anyone else in history.

Can we not just be pleased enough with this as it is?

Yes we need some more players if we want to be competitive in the Championship next season but if everyone expects million pound plus players to come in I think we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves. Quality doesn't always have to cost. Crystal Palace just picked up a decent striker on a free for god's sake.

Be happy with what we've got. Tony doesn't owe us ANYTHING more. He's already spunked a huge sum of money on the most important element of next season in our gorgeous state of the art new stadium.

Holding on to our best players and the best manager we've had in living memory will be job enough as it is so to go touting big fat sums on hitherto unnamed players is just being greedy if you ask me.

Let's just see what happens and in the mean time be grateful for what we've got, which right now is more than we've EVER had.

I would be happy to see Gus bring in a older experienced player ,who willshow the younger ones how to close-out games when we're playing poorly. This maybe our most important signing because at the moment this group do not have an older and wiser head to lead them on the pitch. Poyet can only do so much from the touchline and the money could prove well spent for 1 or 2 seasons.
