Why do parents do this?

Off to the cimema last night to watch the 12A rated Batman.
Sat in the front were 2 sisters, perhaps, 6 & 8, with their parents.

How can Mum and Dad say 'yeah they will love that'.
I'm a 38 year old fat bloke who jumped out of his seat at one bit, which then lead to a torture scene.
Not to mention the facial effects.
And on top of it all that the film finished at 11o'clock, way past bedtime.

When we left Casino Royale, an ashened face girl, of a similar age, would no let go of her father's leg, and they had to 3-legged walk to their car.

What will these kids watch when they are 11/12, years old?
Are these the same parents who say, 'children grow up so fast these days'?
Why would you actively take your kids childhood away?

I just don't get it, how can you be that selfish and still have children.

Don't know what they will be watching, not really much left after watching a fairly horrific action film.

I am guessing that they are the same sort of selfish parents who smoke in the car with kids in the back, or take them to eat McDonalds regularly then wonder why they turn into grossly obese and unfit teenagers.

By the way, was thinking of going to see the new Batman film, is it worth watching?

they wont, they will be hanging around bus shelters and McDonalds talking about who they would or wouldnt shag in year 9. by 14 they will be shagging said people in (now) year 11.

meanwhile parents will be complaining about all the kids hanging about and drinking in the parks and bus shelters, making a mess and being intimidating, writing letters to the council/newspaper about how the govenement should do somthing about it. and thats the ones who care enough to complain, most will just be sitting at home busy watching Batman on Sky.

It could be that they think of batman as a childrens subject (ie the comic strip, batman cartoon, and the 60's/70's US series) and simply failed to do their homework on the subject. If the children were frightened the correct thing to do would have been to leave the cinema.

Isnt the cinema breaking the law by letting them in and therefore should be accountable

Technically, yes. but it's always too easy to blame the cinema that lets the kids in, or the offies that sell the kids alcohol, or the schools for not teaching the kids everything from respect for other people to maintaining a healthy diet. In all cases. it's just so much bollocks. It HAS to come from the parents. And calling them 'parents' covers the sins of a million f***-ups in every other aspect of their lives. Why should they be any better at parenting than they are at anything else?
Like they say, you need a licence to keep a dog, but you don't need a licence to keep a kid. In the end, you just end up with that Dewsbury thing.

Technically no. And dog licences went out years ago. Not being awkward like.

Dammit dougdeep you just ruined my finely-reasoned argument with FACTS! Next you'll be claiming it's all to do with city centre streets being pedestrianised in favour of delivery schedules by drivers of monster trucks

Tho personally I still blame the parents

Wall.e in there above Citizen Cane.......?

I think that list nods towards the very current a little don't you? I would expect it to drop down the list - but not bad going. 15 year old son is watching at cinema now - we did check it out online first and know about the torture scene, but at 15, I'm not worried about him. Me on the other hand......easily scared these days.

Yeah cos 15 year old boys and internet geeks are a representative cross-section of the public:rolleyes:

It was so much better in France not having to put up with objectional tossers on NSC such as yourself. You have said it is 15 year olds and internet geeks , infact as usual you are being a stupid ignorant twat of the highest order but thats expected now , it is people of ALL ages from people all over the World. Why do you try not being a wanker for one day in your life, hey , you might even like it.

But would you agree that very recent and well regarded films probably show up high in the list and then settle back to their true position over time? That might explain why a new film is top and the other currently well regarded movie is in the top 30.
