we've just got £000's from West Ham match and £150k for Henderson. Last season we could have gambled (as Coventry did with Wise) and possibly stayed in the Championship but we didn't make any signings and got relegated. We seem to be in the same situation again. A hatrick doesn't bear thinking about.

It would be better than going bust.

And who pays for them?

Well they've got a choice and its one that they let slip last season
They could be bold and sign 1-2 decent players on loan and keep us up........or they can once again bury their heads in the sand and pretend that nothings wrong and end up in the basement division as per last season

fair point, but how many fans will come back to support a club who's only objective is not to go bust?

We can only sign him for 1 month because you can only loan a player for 93 days the way we have used the loan system, 1 month will take us to the 93 day mark

then we have to sign him if he wants to play for us, or wait til next season

I'm pretty sure you can loan the same player, more than once, on short term loan deals. Two lots of 93 is doable. We can re-sign him on the loan deadline day for another 93 days.

i thought was the 3rd time we have loaned him, thats why we cant have him more than 93 days

we have signed him 3 times on a months loan, which i dont think you can expand on - but i maybe wrong as i dont know the ins and outs of the loan windows and system

Yeah its quite complicated so I'm not claiming authority either.

I think we extended his deal by a month last time, he wasn't re-signed.

When you sign a player on a short term loan it is always up to 93 days - even if the club say its 1 month the deal is technically 93 days but the clubs may only announce it as a month because the other club may wish to recall the player.

My understanding is that this will be his second short term loan stint with us and if my maths is correct (93 days) that will last till the end of the season technically. Although the club will only announce it as a months deal and he could be recalled after a month, which unfortunatly is quite likely if he gets fit because I think he's in thier plans when fit.

Might not be back for the Forest game after all...

Bowditch is on standby for cup tie

IPSWICH Town have delayed Dean Bowditch's second loan spell of the season to League One Brighton, writes Elvin King.

This is to have him available to answer a striker crisis in Saturday's FA Cup fifth round tie at Premiership Watford.

The 20-year-old has been hampered by a long-standing groin problem, but he is being kept at Portman Road in case Town manager Jim Magilton needs him against the Hornets.

Ipswich have found goals hard to come by, having failed to score 13 times in 36 matches this season.

And to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup they must find a way through the defence of a Premiership side now showing their best form of the campaign.

With 12-goal Alan Lee suspended and recent signing Jonathan Walters cup-tied, Magilton has limited resources up front.

He said last night: “I have been asking around to see whether I can bring in a loan signing.

“But I have drawn a blank so far, and it is not going to be easy.

“If no one comes into the squad we have Billy Clarke and Danny Haynes, plus Gary Roberts can play up front and George O'Callaghan has also filled that role in the past.

“And we are holding on to Dean Bowditch, so he can come into the equation.”

Bowditch started the first three games of this season, but has only made one other start since then - in the Carling Cup at Peterborough.

He scored his first Town goal for many months when he found the net at QPR when he came on as a substitute.

Since then he has made one start and three substitute appearances during a previous loan spell at Brighton - scoring one goal

“My injury is getting a lot better,” said Bowditch. “But if I come back too early again I might be out for longer.

“It is an inflammation problem around the tendon, and hopefully this Saturday will be okay.”

FOUR Ipswich Town youngsters are in the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad for a tournament in Madeira later this month.

Keeper Shane Supple, defender Michael Synnott, midfielder Owen Garvan and striker Billy Clarke are in a 20-man party that meets Slovakia on February 27, a Madeira side a day later and Portugal on March 2.
