Why did Tanno come on yesterday?

Now i'm a great lover on Tanno and think he's pretty good, but why did we swap a defender for a defender at 1-0 down surely losing our attacking full back calderon was bad enough, but why did we not try and salvage the point and bring on a midfield player instead of a like for like replacemnet?
Anyone got any ideas????

Painter was struggling to get forward and get decent crosses in, whether that was injury or not dont know. Tanno was surely put on to try and push on against the 10 men.

It is not always as straight forward as throwing on another attacking player in place of a defender, is it?

Possibly not but I think that was the final throw of the dice?

Painter was becoming ineffective late in the 2nd half so Taricco came on.

The bench was weak yesterday beyond Sandaza and Sparrow. We had no width - and that was why Tanno came on I suppose. Noone was sorely missed.

He was missed. My heart sank when I saw he wasn't warming up with the other subs yesterday. We may well have got something if Craig came on yesterday.
