Why are we a nation of bad parents?

As Wifey is a 'super nanny', of sorts. I find myself watching 'problem' child TV programmes. (Basically we just watch chl 4).
It's very obvious, very quickly, that the kids are fine, but are being brought up by fat, foul mouthed, trolls.

This was emphasised last night by Ian Wrights new programme.
Wrighty points out, to a mother, her 13 year old child has 56% body fat, and is doing himself no favours.
Her reaction was to cry, a little, then say to her kid, "If you want to die, I'll push you under a f*cking bus, tomorrow".

How can these people get away with it?, how Wright didn't just tw*t her one & leave, with the kid is beyond me.

Another 13 year old has 4 tv's in his room. (sky, x box, DVD's & normal tv). While downstairs mum is frying him up a sausage sandwich.

I can't believe parents have always been this bad, when did children become the ones with all the 'control'?.

Lucky I'm tired & not up for a rant.

Agreed, kids are only going to do what they have been brought up to do! So many 'bad kids' would be nothing of the sort if they hadn't been born to some of the ****s out there!

Some family situations make things difficult for kids but many kids do fine with just one parent so there's no excuse as far as i'm concerned. Dunno about anyone else but i reckon when you walk through town 9 times out of 10 you'd spot the bad parents the moment you lay eyes on them!

I watched Ian Wright's program as well. That mother who said "push you under a bus" was a pathetic excuse of a woman.

At the end, she refused to join in with the organised handball game - first excuse the clothes didn't fit and then later she said she suffered from sciatica and was going to wave a Dr's note in front of Ian's face.

Not a lot of people in the same position get any help - she has it on a plate and yet she is still doing nothing about it!

5 hours a week exercise for a 13 year old is not too much to ask!!!

Probably watching too much television.

I find it amazing how many people judge the world around them on what they see on a medium that is manipulative and sensationalist rather than on real life.

No responsibilities, no consequences. Why should you care about anything that you do when society will not punish you for it, but is more likely to reward you for going in the face of accepted social behaviour?

The wheel came off in the 80s when the cane/slipper was banned in schools.Yesterdays kids had a free hand to what they wanted in school, those kids are today's parents and so let their little bastards do what they want, also with so many people suckling from the welfare nipple it is easier for fathers to shirk their responsibilities .All kids need two parents, there's lots of exceptions to this, plenty of people bring up smashing kids on their own, however some people cannot look after themselves, let alone the mutant they've just shat out.
It's all to do with the New Labour project, the tories may have been in power for all the 80s and most of the 90s but the judicery, the police, schools and Town halls have been overrun by champagne socialists since the 70s.

Don't get me started!! I had a heated debate with my health visitor about Arthur being in a routine from the day he was born. She is convinced if a baby wants to be up playing at 2am in the morning then the baby should be. I advised her that at 2am if my son was hungry he would have his milk and go back to bed - i have no intention of letting him be up playing at 2am when he is 5 so why start now?

I was also laughed at as I would not and will not feed my son petit filous (baby yoghurts with e numbers) and instead he gets home made yoghurt without e numbers....

I couldn't believe the advice some HV's dished out - no wonder these kids were sugar junkies up 5 times a night - given the advice the parents are getting...

I mostly blame the parents - but there is 1 HV in my local clinic who I'd blame as well. (There are 4 other perfectly brilliant HV's just so you know!!)

What a load of shit, customarily.

Try telling people to bring up their children with no sense of social awareness, even saying to them that there is "no such thing as society", that behaving considerately and being aware of others is nothing like as important as feathering your own nest by any means you can - then, years later, stand back in amazement when the same people have no idea how to bring up their children responsibly and there's a rash of anti-social selfish behaviour. It's cause and effect.

Let there be no argument let there be no sorrow. Sunday I am with my boys at their football games. Will be with you in thought and mind.

I think that would be a fair comment, if it wasn't for the the fact that as skint says you can spot the 'bad' parents, from a long way off & there does seem to be plenty of them.
I'm sure we all have stories to tell, along the lines of the mother smacking her 1 (ish) year old around the head & screaming shut up, as she was grissling in her pram.

I don't think im being rosey glasses when I say it just wasn't like that 20-30 years ago.

'a nation of bad parents'??

Just because you watch some shite on TV about parents who happen to be so bad they've made a programme about them! Just like we're all gay and all Southend supporters drive Capri's.

Thats one f***ing great big brush you've got.
