I got his name a bit wrong (cos I confused him with the crap goalie). He was called Andy Patterson. He was an Irish stand-in wicket keeper for a bit in 1999/2000 sort of time, I think. I say "wicket-keeper" -- I think "backstop" would have been a more accurate description.

And while I always thought Jamie Hall wasn't the greatest opening bat in the world, I've always resisted naming him as such because a) he's a nice bloke, and b) I felt sorry for him after Ian Salisbury nicked his girlfriend and married her.
