BUT if anyone can find a picture of Soraya Im prepared to change my mind.

It's interesting that the early risers were voting mainly for Ms Vere. The lie-a-beds have now shown up and Dr Lucas has overtaken her.

What does this say about (a) politics; and (b) NSC ?

That the Green voters work for living and have to spend the early part of the day, while the Tory voters are gentlemen (and ladies) of leisure.

The lists are really lacking the Monster Raving looney type party candidates. Did Brighton not have a Bob Hope Party and that wonderful fella who was the 'bucket on a head party' did he not sit next to Thatcher one year.

I feel disapointed it is the first time my niece can vote and I was talking about these partys but I guess the depoists are now to high for them to stand.

He did indeed, I was living in Finchley at the time and as the MP was also the PM, the list of wacky candidates went on for pages. The only other one I remember was the woman from the Gold Party, whose sole policy was to give everyone a million quid.

I'm interested in this stuff about Lucas, being a waverer between Green and Labour (the latter out of sheer bloody mindedness against the screaming anti-Gordon Brown bias of the British Press. Metro and Standard both given away and really should have blue "Vote Conservative" bands across the top of them - they are Tory election pamphlets disguised as newspapers).

I also would like to check there is NOTHING she could do about Falmer, as I had a chat with Keith Taylor once (another Green luminary) who was incredibly irritating and unexpectedly extremely against Falmer. Sometimes Green = Conservative if you think about it.

There's the old adage of "no-one who wants power deserves it", but guess you should vote for someone, and I could still be pursuaded either way.

From her online blog (cringeworthy though her reference to the Albion is)...

Leaving the rally I made my way to the new stadium development in Falmer, the soon-to-be new home of the Brighton Seagulls. The new stadium looks very impressive, even in development, and I was pleased to find that supporting the local economy and environment were very much part of the developers' plans.

For example, hundreds of tonnes of chalkland excavated during the construction are being re-used sustainably, making local agricultural land easier to use and saving 22,000 lorry trips, while efforts also seem to be being made to reduce car journeys to the stadium. Promoting the local economy by providing jobs for local businesses is also a priority.

And her Twitter (I'm not on Twitter, so don't fully understand how this Twitting thing goes) page... http://twitter.com/CarolineLucas/status/11826391528

I had an online run-in with Keith Taylor about Falmer some years back - he seemed very hostile to the idea. I don't think CL is of the same kidney: I've certainly not heard her say anything against Falmer.

Lucas and Taylor fought a battle over Green leadership so don't expect them to be in complete agreement over everything.

The Brighton Pavilion wards that have Green councillors are:-

Hanover and Elm Grove
Preston Park
St Peter's and North Laine
Regency

Queens Park and Goldsmid wards also have Green councillors, but they are in Kemptown and Hove, respectively.

Remember visiting my nan in Hanover back in the bad days of Thatcher and you only ever saw Labour posters in windows.... Everyone so middle class and green these days. Wankers.

Mind you, my dad did always go on about the Trotskyists who met in The Charles Napier pub.....secretly I admired them!

St Peter's is very Green.
Preston Park is Labour / Green. ('Preston', as you put it, comes under 'Westdene').

Lewes Road / Coombe Road is in Brighton Kemptown and is mostly Green with a bit of Labour thrown in.

Some of Hanover (very Green) has gone into Kemptown, and Queens Park (very Green) has come into Brighton Pavilion.
