Who was the Albions first openly Gay player?

This is a serious question,as I know that Brian Powney a Goalkeeper from the 60's and early 70's came out as Gay in the 80's.
Was there anybody before him?
Obviously he wasn't playing at the time.
Given the percentages,at least some of the current squad must be Homosexual.
I'm just tossing a question around.
