Who should cut the tape?

For years we've said when we get to Falmer Dick Knight should have his moment in the sun. Even last season and the past couple of years when there have been slowly growing portions of the fan base calling for Knight to step down, many have still said he should stay on as a figure head and should be there for the opening of Falmer, he should cut the tape to open the stadium.

But with Tony Bloom taking over as chairman, we learn that if not for Tony, Falmer would fall through. He is a life long fan, has a family history with the club, his investment has kept us in business, covering our losses. So, surely there is an argument for Tony to be there for the cutting of the tape.

If Tony Bloom didn't cover our losses would we still have a club? IF he didn't finance Falmer, we wouldn't have it, so surely his financial support has been as key to the club surviving as Knight's consortium was?

I'm not saying Bloom should cut the tape, just asking if recent events are cause for questioning who does it?

I mean, they could use a giant pair of scissors and both cut it...

I recall a previous thread where someone said that we would not have got Falmer without Bellotti and Archer selling the Goldstone...

So maybe them!

Osama Bin Laden?
David Bellotti?

First of all, how would we get the invite to Osama, no one knows where he is. Then if we do get it to him, he may take a bit of convincing because he wouldn't be too fond of our open door policy, allowing non-muslims, women, gays into the stadium, so we'd have to give him a very good argument, and even if we manage to convince him to do it, there's going to be trouble getting him through the passport check point. On top of that we'd have lots of extremist terrorist clamouring to see him, taking tickets away from real fans. Then there's the risk he'd blow it up, not ideal after all the trouble it took to get the place built. Did you even think that suggestion through before posting it? It's a logistical nightmare.

Although it may be difficult to track him down (although it has been the Yanks looking for him so he could be living next door to the White House for all they know) I'm sure Barry Lloyd will be able to find him and I'm sure that the persuading ability of Dick Knight should seal the deal

Also the reward of information on his whereabouts and subsequent capture could mean that Blooms loan could be repaid instantly, the that the let over money could be used to fund a team capable of challenging for the Premiership crown

It's win / win really

Dick Knight. No question whatsoever. Dick Knight fought the hard battles. The CRUCIAL battles. Without Dick Knight, we wouldn't be in the position where a random loadsamoney, albeit one with Albion connections, could just come in and write a cheque. If it hadn't been Bloom, it would have been somebody else. Dick Knight deserves every single plaudit going for steering the club to that point. Cutting the tape is the very least he deserves by way of recognition. Oh, and a statue. A good one, mind, none of that Southampton-style rubbish.

If it hadn't been Bloom, it would have been somebody else.

Really? Who else has expressed interest in investing £80m in brighton? If someone without the albion connections of bloom came along, would he have the support of the board? Given some fans' worries about one man being incharge even though he's an albion man, what would it have been if it was a non-albion man?

And if we didn't have someone to finance us and we went bust, what knight did would have been simply delaying our destruction, so Bloom ensured Knight's actions mean something.

Just putting the other argument out there.
