Not sure that quite works. The Hungarian Socialists are a partial successor to the old ruling party not a direct follow on and 1956 was 53 years ago, so any direct involvement is likely to be minimal if at all. That said my sympathies are more with the Nordic Left group than the one Neo-Labour is in.

The questions still arises why the Tories chose to leave a respectable conservative grouping (which will have serious consequences if Cameron becomes PM in 2010) for a gang of gypsy hating racist anti-semites and religous extremists.

True and oddly enough the ex-Tankies tend to be the most right-wing element in the Labour Party. That said this issue is about who the Tories have chosen to lead their new grouping in Europe, after withdrawing the whip from one of the more moderate members.
