The Fatherland
...not a genre you hear talked about or championed. Or maybe there is an entire scene lurking out there which I'm blissfully unaware of. Is there such a thing as good white reggae?

Wasn't that the term used to describe the Average White Band. Great name because that is exactly what they were.

There used to be a band called Blue Riddim band, who I think were based in Kansas City of all places... they played at one of the Sunsplash events in Jamaica in the 80s and tore the place down with their studio one tunes.
Ive got it on my harddrive at home I think..may even already be in the reggae drops thread..but ill dig it out and drop in the reggae drops thread anyway later ..

and from the KING TAFARI LOVE MUSIC (Brighton) stable...

Ruben Da Silva

If you went to our parties in the 80s/90s you would have
seen Silva nuff time selector and singer for the sound.

first time I met him, was probably in 1979.. we were called JahMarcus Sound
and we were playing underneath the Alhambra on the seafront.
This young youth with suit and porkpie hat asked if he could sing on the sound. Took one look at him and said no.
He asked again the next week, and as it was early and nobody in...checked with Marcus, and he said....why not...
Couldnt believe our bloodclaat ears.
Still hard at work, and cuts a lot of dubs for sounds around the world.
KingTafari are doing things along Church road once a month now..trot along.
He wrote this tune, and ive always loved it.

No, and the other coloured version (am I allowed to say it) isn't much cop either imho. UB40 for goodness sake, how many of them in that band to make such a dire whiney plodding sound?
