I find it depends on how much you handle them early on.

As I say we have five and all the ones we got when they were very young and handled from the off are very laid back. The one we got when he was a bit older and possibly already stuck in his ways is a bit more of a wriggler.

If you get a baby guinea pig and handle it for a short time every day (or near enough) they are very affectionate.

Applies to any animal I guess, the key is taming them up from an early age. I did try Guinae Pigs years ago but just never got on with them, I find if you go anywhere near them they tend to squeak and run off. Whereas the rabs will quite happily sit on my lap for a stroke for hours. Although I find with rabbits their personality can vary greatly from breed to breed and un-neutered males in particular aren't great cuddlers and will prefer to dig the garden up, rub their scent glands everywhere and fight with anything in sight.
