Interested to see if it has any effect on people's expectations further down the line.

For me, first season was 18th in the old 2nd Division, second season 6th in the Old 2nd Division, losing the play off final.

1983/4 ...... 9th 2nd (old) Division ie tier 2
1984/5 ...... 6th 2nd (old) Division ie tier 2

Having followed the Albion since 1978 but not being allowed to go to see a game in the top flight due to my mum's belief that every game would end up with hoolie's all over the place giving me a right shoeing, my expectations were very high. I was absolutely f***ed off when we did not go straight back up to the top flight that 1st season.

But since then my experiences, 3rd tier footie, Gary Nelsons 30+ goals, play-off final Notts County, Ipswich heartache 1992, Bellotti & Archer, the cnuts, York pitch invasion, Fans Utd, Goodbye Goldstone, Hereford, Gillingham, Hart's first goal at Withers, Zamora, back to back promotions, Cardiff play-off and the struggle for falmer have shown me that history, whilst important, counts for nothing in the present day, enjoy every day of it, you never know where its going next......although for the record, the gus bus to the championship.

I f***ing love this club!
