Where are these facilities in Sussex?

Soccer is the main team game, with hockey in Lent (now), and cricket in the summer. Hockey, netball and lacrosse in the winter. Tennis, sailing, athletics and squash are open to all.

Aerobics, badminton, basketball, clay-pigeon shooting, dance, fencing, fives, fly-fishing, golf, kick-boxing, rowing, swimming, volleyball and water polo are regularly available. Horse riding, rock climbing and mountaineering: climbing wall, and abseiling is possible.

Ample scope for cross-country running, sailing and canoeing, Extensive playing fields. The sports hall is immediately adjacent to the 25-metre indoor swimming pool. There are three squash courts, four Eton fives courts, a multi-gym in a purpose-built weight training room, ten hard tennis courts and six grass courts. An all-weather astroturf pitch was constructed in 2000 and a second is to be built in 2003.

Next door to Pende. (better neighbours than Lewes Council.)

That is not the main point. All these facilities are on the downs in the proposed National Park, most of them in AONBs (not the brand new astroturf hockey pitches though and Pende isn't in the AONB either).

The South Downs Conservation Board have got to be ingenious to think that sporting facilities are incompatible on bits of less than pristine downs.

I think the Government had better up the students fees!

Or better let the public in on their privileged game. Even "nasty" football supporters.

Football supporters are no different from the rest of the public (except rugby fans on a drunken night out) and we would like to go to a football stadium set in a nice bit of land, not a cruddy bit of wasteland on the edge of the Universities. But we will put up with having students next door if we absolutely have to, I suppose ....
