When did you get married?

I married Superbird in April 1993. I was with her from 1986 I think, I didn't want to get married, so she asked me on Feb 29th (leap year) and I really didn't have a choice. She threatened to throw me out if I said no.

Having said that, I'm very happy now, never give it a second thought.

She wanted to do it, I had no real reason not to so I say do it, if it suits one of you and it makes no difference to you.

Oh, and make sure he/she has something in common with you. ie. The Albion, music, beer, etc.

We met when we were 13 and 12;

went out with each others friends until we were 17 (often as foursomes);

first official 'date' was her 17th birthday party;

got married at 23 / 22;

we now have 3 kids (14, 12 and 8) and have been married nearly 17 years.

:)

Awwww, that's really sweet, but would we be right to assume that your wife lost her virginity to one of your mates, and you lost yours to one of hers?

Or did you save yourselves for each other? :angel:

Sorry for prying. You started it. :lolol:

Got married the first time in 1980 but got devorced in 1992. Remarried to Mrs BHA on July 29th 2003, she was 34 and I was 48.

I bet I'm the only one here who got married in a resturant though, none of yer poncey church or registry office stuff for me !

Still, slightly tragically we still don't live together, not through any fault of our own but down to the scum who run the Immigration and Nationalisation 'Service'.

We have two sons, 18 and 16.

Married at 30, nearly twelve years ago, two kids, lots of ups and downs since then (which tend to coincide with the fortunes of the Albion) but still soldiering on

They're strange names to call your kids.:lolol:

Been with my partner for three years, she has ZERO intentions of getting married. I am therefore not bothered, but good luck to all those who sail that particular ship. :thumbsup:

Very good!

Was married, escaped and never going back.

If happy why marry?

There's often more commitment in no paper relationships than there is in paper ones. Swans mate for life but they don't need a bit of paper.

That bit of paper gives you a lot more protection than living together.

If you share a property for instance, unless both names are on the mortgage or on the tenancy agreement.

Or if there are children only one of the partners can give permission for medical treatment, usually the mother.

That bit of paper theoreticaly gives you a Green Card.

There is nothing more special then showing your love and dedication for your partner (yes that means for a life time - hopefully if it all goes well and you are both commited to the relationship) by getting married.

Marvin, I am sure if you asked your lady to marry you, she would NOT turn you down.:)

Erm steered clear of them for the last 17 1/2 years (have had offers but the lines, either all women are mentally derranged or the ones attracted to me are... usually does the trick)

And Yorkie I agrree that the Law makes life easier for those who have had some kind of ceremony but why should it?

Why should those who chose not to, be put at a disadvantage.

It does not make life easier at divorce either.
