I did 2 years of teacher training in secondary mathematics. When you are training to be a teacher, you have to go into classrooms to watch the lessons, make notes e.t.c. Anyway, one lesson was 'statistics' and the teacher made the pupils say their shoe sizes so that this data could be represented in bar graph / pie chart form.

All the male pupils were saying "Size 8" and "Size 9" until one lad said "Size 10!" One kid said "Ah well, you know what that means, don't you?" and it being a secondary school they all laughed.

Luckily, being only a trainee sitting at the back taking notes, I didn't have to admit to being size 12.

Size 10.

I've always had really wide feet and to this day can't fit in Nike Airs which is really annoying because all the cool kids wear them.

So that explains why you bought the "striped shoes" - only ones that would fit you.
