Dr No for me. The scene where Ursula Andress comes out of the sea wearing a bra when the book had her topless remains the most disappointing moment in my life.

Enjoyed Skyfall, partly because it does deviate slightly from the standard format. Craig as the damaged Bond helps as well.

Casino Royale was good, along the lines of the book, even if they did not play poker in the book...

Big fan of OHMSS. Way Lazenby's agent told him Bond would not last and so he did not sign the contract to do 7 Bond films? Well that turned out well...

The one where he kills lots of men and has sex with lots of women and leaves them all the next day; can't remember the name of that one though. I remember a bit of product placement in the film if that helps.

I liked it because he killed swaths of men, has sex with fit girls and wears cool stuff.

I love Bond films, but yes, many of them are forgettable and indistinguishable, plot wise.

Which is why Live and Let Die is without doubt the best of the bunch. I remember EVERYTHING that happened in that film. Full of style and humour, and Bond kills swathes of men, has sex with fit girls and wears cool stuff.

I love you only live twice. Connery in his swansong. (he was "tempted" back by the £1m, then a record, for Diamonds after Lazenby wanted out but to all intents and purposes this was supposed to be his last film) Blofeld met for the first time and the basis of Dr Evils look. The volcano base and with it some space scenes, Bond in Japan and the ninjas all on their ropes going into the volcano.

The Spy Who Loved me was a remake of this film.

So:
1) You Only Live Twice
2) Skyfall
3) Live And Let Die
4)Goldeneye
5) Goldfinger
6)Licence to Kill
7) Casino Royale
8) From Russia With Love
9) SPECTRE
10) The Spy Who Loved Me

Goldfinger

The reasons in no particular order

1.) Good story/plot
2.) Great music
3.) Aston Martin + ejector seat
4.) Pussy Galore + flying circus
5.) Fort Knox scenes /nerve gas
6.) Odd Job
7.) Sean Connery best Bond
8.) Countdown on Nuke stops at 007
9.) Goldfinger sucked out of plane window
10.) One of those films that sticks in the memory

That's the standard bit, which all the films have some of. I clearly quoted Doc Lynam in a tongue in cheek way.

What stands out? THAT theme tune, the funeral scene in New Orleans, the boat chase, the double-decker bus chase, that guy with the false arm, the whole Blaxploitation thing (it was released right at the height of this), that scary tall fella sitting on the front of the train, Jane Seymour and the first ever black Bond girl whose name escapes me.

It was magnificent.

The spy who loved me BOOK is a travelogue about a Canadian woman, in which Bond appeared unnamed, right at the end! The film was the same in name only

You only live twice...the book is totally different
From Russia with love
Sky fall
Goldfinger
Thunderball

Have a go at reading the books...it is more gritty than the films and in most cases the film bears no resemblance to the books.

Nothing beats the original Casino Royal, anyone that can put Peter Sellers, David Niven, Woody Allen and Ronnie Corbett in a Bond movie has to be the best

No I know that. Im talking about the films. YOLTY was 69 and Spy Who Loved Me was 77 and its the same film only set in the sea.

Goldfinger is the best for all the reasons previously stated.

However, good to see A View To A Kill finally getting a mention, it's an absolute guilty pleasure of mine. I love Christopher Walken for a start (he'd go on to King of New York and Pulp Fiction, two of my all time top five movies). Moore - though the worst Bond IMHO - gets to HUMP a truly scary Grace Jones. And the stunts are ridiculous. The bit where the crappy Renault taxi gets cut in half and keeps going is one of my favourite things ever.

I think they're all good films in different ways. As escapist action films they mostly can't get beat.
I liked "Live and let die" a lot and "Goldeneye" was very good - thought it was one of the best but Daniel Craig really does nail my idea of James Bond. "Skyfall" was exceptionally good and I'm eagerly awaiting "Spectre"

In fact sod it, got two minutes or so to waste? Revel in the FROMAGE.

Nothing wrong with a single second of any of that. Marvellous.

Anyway, my favourite always has been MOONRAKER: a truly magnificent, beautiful score - arguably John Barry's best of the lot - brilliant set-pieces, particularly in Rio, Sir Rog in his absolute pomp and Bond somehow trying to keep up with the late 70s wave of sci-fi flicks and just about getting away with it. Oh and of course Holly GOODHEAD. The director's commentary with Lewis Gilbert is lovely too.

Another reason is that I have such fond memories of seeing it in the ABC in East Street, along with just about every other great film of the time. Such a pity what's happened to that building.
