I remember getting to the Priestfield labout 15 minutes late and, we were 1-0 up against Swansea I think, so missed a Peter Smith goal, we then had the pleasure of watching the Albion lose 4-1.

At the goldstone when we were kids if we had no money often would wait for the gates to open at half time and get in for free.

One year we got stuck in a mega traffic jam on the way to Burnley (95 I think, I know we lost 3-0 to them twice around that time). Arrived just on half time, they made us pay full price and then we discovered we were already 3-0 down!

Only time I was late for a home game was Portsmouth one year on boxing day some time in the early eighties. I think it was an 11am kick off and I arrived about 20 minutes into the game as I had overslept!! It must have been 1985 as I went in as a junior and a Policeman asked me for my date of birth before letting me in when I showed him I only had enough cash on me to get in at the junior rate and no more!!!

Luton away, god knows how many years ago. Started late and missed the coach so decided to drive up on my own. Got stuck in traffic hold ups and got lost a couple of times. Got to the ground as the fans were coming OUT! Didn't bother stopping and drove home rather pissed off.
Chesterfield away was the opposite problem. Got there about pub opening time and left said pub for the ground about 4 and a half hours later. I have never understood what was going through my addled brain at the time because I paid to get in and walked straight out and back to the pub!
What seemed like a couple of pints later I thought I should get back for the second half only to find the ground in darkness, deserted, and my coach home long gone. Totaly potless, as all my cash had gone in the pub, I thought, OH shit!
Fortunatly a couple of real mates who had driven up, had been told by the lads on the coach that I was AWOL and were driving around Chesterfield looking for me. GOD was I pleased to see them.

Only about 15 minutes late - and all due to the pub and a taxi queue - but it was Derby, and as the taxi approached, we heard a huge roar which meant we were one nil down - and that's how it stayed!

Took my girlfriend to see Fulham v Leicester back in the 70's. Cup match I think.

Thousands still outside the ground at kick off time, my girl grappling with the long black arm of a pickpocket who'd got tangled up with the contents of her bag. Emerged on the terraces 10 minutes after the start. Crowd in uproar. We'd just missed what turned out to be Match of the Day's goal of the season. The scorer? Alan Mullery.

I was on the Costa express that arrived at Turf Moor at half time with the Albion losing 3-0. I stomped up to the turnstile prepared only to pay half price and ready for a row, only to have the wind taken out of my sails as the Chairman had told them to let us in free.

The game ended 3-0 so I spent 14 hours on the coach to see 45 minutes of goaless football and an Albion defeat :shootself

i was on the love bus for that one as well

remember arriving at half time away at bristol rovers when they played at twerton park, must have been about 1994. another case of traffic related issues

I got to junction 15 just as the queue was forming just before 5pm, I mentally tossed a coin and got off the M1 going via Northampton and got the game with 15 mins to spare.

Another day I would have stuck with the M1 and missed the game. So my Cobblers gambit paid off this time.

Wasn't too impressed with the traffic on the way back though, so much for its all clear now, what about all the other bloody roadworks.

Sep 1980...set off in mates car from Sussex to Liverpool.( in plenty of time ! )20 miles up the road the car was playing up and the driver was all for heading home. The other 3 of us persuaded him to carry on ( big mistake ! )
Sat motionless on M6 for over two hours after a kindly oil tanker decided to turn over. Had conversations with Everton fans trying to get south to Coventry..they scored 3 times in the first 15 mins and we could hear all the cries of anguish from their cars as the goals went in.
Eventually got to Anfield at half time...amazed bynumber of youngsters listening outside...asked one the score and he replied " you're one down mate and you're gonna get hammered "
He was right...supersub David Fairclough ran us ragged and we lost 4-1.

I remember going to Chesterfield (1976 ?) on the Seagulls Special train which broke down en route which meant we didn't arrive at the train station until about 15 minutes after the match had kicked off. The police escorting us to the ground were amused when we started to run uphill which petered out after 100 yards as we were all knackered.

Hereford away in 2003. Missed the train at paddington so took one to Glouster as that was 'near' and thumbed it the rest of the way. Three lifts later and I arrived at half time. Poor game, we lost but moves were afoot for one of the biggest footie stories of the time....Brian Clough!

I misjudged the drive to Exeter once and arrived at half-time. Turnstiles were closed and I got sent to the main office for a half-price ticket.

I know it was very late when we got in to the Enfield v Barnsley FA cup tie at White Hart Lane when about 40,000 turned up but I'm sure that was just before half time. Couldn't believe the crowds!

Remember a home game a few years ago against Bradford it was raining so stayed in the pub until half time then took my seat and ended up falling asleep during the second half
