a galaxy far far away
A large wall and ditch somewhere around the Midlands.

Great plan, though you have it too high.

Around Southwick to Peacehaven not going further north than the Whitegates should do it

Surely you're not that naive? He's a calculating 'bumbling' construct underneath which lies a ruthless, elitist, odious narcissist. As much as I despise the Tories, it would be unfair to single out Johnson, as many who make it to the top share similar characteristics, although they're exceptionally transparent and unpalatable in his particular case.

What naive enough to believe he is more charismatic than all the other self serving wankers? Yes, yes I am

Yes he is a faux buffoon and a lying toad but I don’t trust or believe ANY of them so why single him out? None of the others are any better.

Are you still gutted that the country saw through Corbyn? And you call me naive :lolol:

At Johnson's " Coronation " on Friday the warm up act was Michael Gove..... " No one has ever admired Boris Johnson more than me...…. " …..Apart from when he put the knife in to Boris's previous attempt at the Party leadership and when he twice stood against him !

I can't help but think that a load of northern xenophobes have sealed their own food bank fate.

Yep. It is completely ludicrous.

Whilst I don't agree at all with the mentality, I can understand those with money voting for those that will help them keep more; even if that is at the expense of those less fortunate. The dog eat dog philosophy of old that I'd hoped we would leave behind. I can also understand hate-filled racist intolerant biggots and the old empire types voting for Johnson, the cap certainly fits.

But shat upon northern outposts voting on mass for their abuser in chief is mind numbingly stupid. What utter bellends

My heart bleeds for those that have sense but are in the minority as they will suffer alongside the stupid. Meanwhile I'll be financially better off but increasingly sad at the state of the population I live among. Very very depressing.

Revenge is a dish best served cold as I hope Gove finds outs shortly. To me the most odious man in British politics at the moment.

Interesting that Boris was straight back up North yesterday to thank those voters that helped put him into power on Thursday.

Despite my antipathy to Boris (and Brexit) I take my hat off to him for a politically astute move which I hope gets translated into real action.

My suggestion for a way to help create a less divided nation would be to relocate Parliament to the Midlands/North. Ideal opportunity as the current Parliament is in need of major and very expensive works.

Bet it would be a lot cheaper to build a brand new state of the art Parliament away from London.

Can’t think of a better way to make a convincing statement of intent and absolutely guarantee that badly needed resources and infrastructure are redeployed away from the stranglehold of London and the South East.

Any other ideas out there?

Not Parliament. Move Whitehall, or a big chunk of it - put three major ministries in the midlands and north (thus helping three areas, not just one). Home Office, Foreign Office and Department of Health would do. Give the respective ministers a small office in London (maximum staff of 12 - including office cleaners, no contractors), Install lots of tele-conferencing facilities, and of course give the minister and his chief aid a rail pass between London and his/her main office in Bolsover, Rochdale, Middlesbrough, wherever.

Another political thread advertising the fact of the incompetent political wannabees we have leading us.
The whole election has been one circus in the making.
I've had enough of all this bollox.

I went to a former mining community in the NE in June. No sign of any industry now, many people are either working in low-skill, zero hours jobs or are on benefits. They have been sold the lie than their misfortune and lack of opportunity isn't down to changing industry and lack of investment but down to immigrants. They were sold Brexit as a panacea to solve their problems so they voted for it, more out of desperation and a sense of "it can't get any worse".
Fast forward three years and successive parliaments have failed to deliver with Labour constantly voting deals down, along comes Johnson and makes the whole election about "getting Brexit done".
Corbyn's "free stuff for all" didn't resonate and the same "f..k it, how much worse could it be ?" attitude kicked in again and they voted Tory.

I don't disagree with what you say but it still comes down to stupidity. Firstly believing the lies pedaled prior to the Brexit referendum. Then failing to understand that they were lies when it is clear and obvious to all after the referendum. Then suddenly forgetting that it was Johnson and his cronies that were voting down Brexit deals that were better than those Johnson is pedaling. Even allowing for them to forget who it was that decimated their communities and future in the first place it is bloody stupid to lash out at themselves and support those that abuse them.

So what would have been a vote that wasn’t “stupid”?

A Scunthorpe man on tv the other night said the town has died, shops are closing, firms going bust, so, he was voting for a change, and that’s why he voted Conservative.

:ffsparr:

There’s also a good chance that the steel works will shut down.

Thinking that the people of the North East are stupid for voting to leave the EU is precisely why they voted Tory this time. They have been let down by their elected representatives who ignored them. These are proud people and in their eyes, voting for someone who has treated their views with contempt is itself stupid.

As an aside to the thread I do find it amusing that within hours of the Tories stuffing Labour in the election the Socialist Workers and their kin were hard at it. Hundreds marching down Whitehall with banners and placards urging “Defy the Tories”. Did they know something we didn’t? I mean, to produce those placards, banners, posters et al, must have taken some doing bearing in mind the result was only announced shortly before their protest. Perhaps they were made well before polling day in anticipation of such an event? Either way, we’ll done boys and girls, you got your sour grapes moment of fun. Now what a waste it would have been if Jezza had triumphed instead. :tantrum:

Many of the elected representatives have made an informed choice on how to proceed with Brexit when they realised the whole scheme is a recipe for disaster, even the pro Brexit Tory government admitted that the country WILL BE worse off financially whatever the severity of the break from Europe. Every subsequent debate has revealed further difficulties, costs and insoluble problems. There is no Magic Brexit Tree.
