Swindon was great, probably the only game at Withdean when we stood the entire game.

Chesterfield, brown envelope night.

The South Stand did well to stand up to the celebrations of Cullip's goal.

Beating Derby with a late Kerry Mayo goal whilst the White Feather looked around Withdean in stunned disbelief that this was a Championship football ground, was a pretty good atmosphere.

Bizarrely a 4-3 (I think) defeat to Rochdale (again I think!!) in the absolute pissing rain in a midweek night game had a fabulous atmosphere too.

Not sure about 'best atmosphere' at the Withdean.....but for 'best venomous atmosphere' I don' think anything, will ever eclipse the infamous game v Sheffield United and a certain Mr. Prosser.

Man City was very good. I do like a celebratory pitch invasion.

However, I'm also going with Cheaterfield. Just brilliant in every respect.

I notice that nearly all the games mentioned were night games

Most of my top games covered above. Two others that stick in my mind:-

Mansfield 6-0 1st league game back in Sussex
Cardiff City 1-0 victory 2001/02 season. Zamora burst through the Cardiff defence to calmly slot beneath the keeper. A big result against fellow promotion/title challengers.

Has to be the play-off game against Swinedon. There we were, soaking wet, not even looking like scoring, and all ready to leave when up pops El Virgolio!!

And that penalty shoot-out was amazing!!!!

All of the above I agree with (esp Chesterfield), but just to prove its not just a thing of the past - Southampton last season?

That Cardiff one was memorable, Wasn't there also a Reading night game when we won something like 3-1 and Melton smashed in a wonder-goal?

BRIGHTON ...
the day after review of chesterfield ...

Yep. Basically, after half-time several lads (inc. me) were walking back along the running track to our seats and passing the away dug-out we decided to give Cheaterfraud manager Nicky Laws some flak (as we did last season) and started calling him cheating *******, waving brown envelopes etc. Rather then ignoring us, Law threw his toys out the pram and decided to retaliate and challenge us all to a fight   To which several Albion fans duly accepted and tried to leap over the advertising boards to get at him! The Police intervened but baldy wasn't a happy man and spent the rest of the game ignoring his team on the field and started making ****er signs at the home crowd, shouting and swearing at Peter Taylor etc which obviously didn't go down too well with us lot. He had to be escorted into the changing rooms after the game (where apparently, the players clashed) and hundreds of Albion fans waited round the back of the changing rooms and away stand trying to get at Laws and any Cheats fans. Bedlam.

But bloody funny  I threw a hot-dog at their coach
