It's generally considered bad form as someone has to pay for the hosting fees (like Bozza does for NSC). In addition by just posting the picture, the creator of the image is not really getting any credit.

But there is a link to their thread... and between us, we have given their web pages and advertisers lots of extra hits. There is no commercial value to these images, is there?

But they may have a hosting package whereupon they pay for data transferred, if you hotlink an image then you could cause someone great expense. Hotlinking is simply bad internet etiquette.

Is it 'acceptable' to copy the odd image, and a link to the main thread... and host the image elsewhere (in the case on NSC)... as long as they get the credit and the traffic for their advertisers?
