Seems like Sony are going to cease this practice from now on.

Maybe so - but they are now patenting a technology that will lock a game to a console. So if you want to sell your game or if your console dies and you have to buy a new one - tough! It won't work.

Surely if you go and buy a PS game you have the right to play it in any console you like ?

This will no doubt kill the renting of games industry - stupid to say the least.

I cannot see Game letting them get away with that one. They make loads out of pre-played games. And since they are the biggest games seller in the country, even to the extent they can dictact launch days they will put a stop to it.

You're really, really overestimating GAME's importance there. Sure, they operate in about 6 markets across Europe, but they're small in all but the UK and Ireland. They're BLOODY TINY on a global scale. Theres no way, in hell, that they can dictate anything to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, let alone SCE Japan.
