What SHOULD have won best British Album?

LCD Soundsystem are meant to be playing in Brighton this Friday at the concorde 2.

I say meant because I heard it had been cancelled last week but then got given a flyer for it on Tuesday.

Am ringing up tomorrow to find out.

I Am Kloot - self-titled gem from last year that should have won, but I'm glad it didn't.

The awards NEVER feature the best music, just what makes money for the record companies. Are all those choices on major lables?

Saw I am Kloot play here in Holland last year. They were pretty good, but they always get a special laugh over here, because "kloot" is Dutch for "bollock".

Razorlight was my fav album of last year.


Of the list above I would say the streets probably, never been overly impressed with franz ferdinands album, its good but nothing amazing. Hopes and Fears and Final Straw are both OK but nothing to amazing. Absolution is an excellent album but not quite as good as Razorlight.

I would have gone with The Streets 'A grand don't come for free'.

Not only did it sound great but it actually tried to push music in a new direction.

Had anyone heard of a 'Chav,rap,hip-hop,concept album' before?

Hardly a new direction though. Jilted John did much the same thing in the seventies. Did it better, too.

but lets not forget the delights of a very good fat boy slim Album plookaville was very good in the way that norman is changing his style and his music influence.

Final Straw should have won the award, easily. I just don't get bored of listening to that album, absolute genius.

Out of those I think Franz Ferdinand is the best,, but I think The Libertines, Razorlight, The Futureheads and The zutons all released better albums than any of them
