I was one of the people who bought that cheap Dell Photo printer for £9.99 which replaced my old Epson 660. The ink in the Dell is running out but to replace the colour and black cartridges will cost about £40.

Sod that!

So I've decided to get a nice Canon i560 which does really nice photo quality printouts, going to cost £85.

Which printers do you lot own?

Oh yes, the Canon cartridges cost about £3.50 to replace. Bloody bargain.

:glare:

Epson Stylus Photo 1290 - A3 colour printer
HP Deskjet 550 - A4 colour printer
HP Laserjet 1200 - A4 b&w
John Bull printing set and spongy inkpad

The trick is to save on the cost of ink cartridges by using the b&w laser for most print jobs.

I got the i560. bloody good little printer! Good choice.

Cool, glad to hear I'm making the right decision. I don't know much about printers but after reading some reviews on reviewcentre.com the i560 got 10/10 which swayed me.

I own the canon i350 http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=50036

And buy the bargain ink cartridges:

Black: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=38843

Colour: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=38844

I always buy a printer by the cost of the ink. The good thing about canons is that they are cheap for both printer and ink :clap2:

The liberty with the Dell printers in particular is that you can ONLY buy the ink direct from Dell. You can refill the cartridges but I don't know if that will work with chipped cartridges.

Lexmark cartridges are also very expensive but at least you can buy them from Comet or PC World.

I wouldn't have thought so. Wouldn't the ink just run straight out through the chip?

BTW Epson Stylus Photo R300

I have: -

Hewlett Packard P1000 Photo Printer
Brother MFC-890 Multi Function Printer

No idea what price the cartridges are as I have never bought any. I always book them to work.

Me - I bought 2 of them as they looked such a bargain.

But when I realised they only came with trial ink cartridges I put them on ebay - one sold for £36 and the other for £43!

Nice little profit:D
