I am an assistant referee for the sussex county leagues on a saturday, every saturday of the week, so that puts paid to that.

Hello good sir how are you today? I play for Whitehawk, have you ref'ed any of our games this season?

We've had the worst image in the past and we've been trying to lift it - I'd say we got close too BEFORE THIS SEASON!!!! At the start of this season we had a few doogy decisions some of which cost us games (mistakes happen and these were genuine) but the way we dealt with them made the ref able to dictate our games for us. Instead of getting on with it the whole team would get on the ref's back and we'd easily lose our heads. It seemed like we (me included) were on the refs back before kick off.

To be honest it's much better now, still get honest rubbish decisions for and against, but we deal with it and we're back to winning ways because of it!

You reffing us tomorrow?
