gotsmanov appears to be from what is now BELARUS

Indeed, I fail to see why people find this so difficult. Normally he seems to be referred to as "russian" which is equally as wrong as Ukrainian.

He could count as Soviet (as the USSR still existed when he played for us) or from Belarus (as that is what his part of the world is called now) but definitely not Russian or Ulrainian.

At an international level he played mainly for USSR, but played three games for Belarus after the fall of the Soviet Union. His sons, Sasha and Andrei, now play football (proper football, not the American crap) in the States.

OK, alphabetically, from this thread, the definative summary so far, where players have played at an international level, the country they've played for is the one I've counted (so Carole, for example, is listed as France) where, to my knowledge, they are eligible for more than one country but haven't played for any, I've used whatever goives us the most countries! I've onmly listed each country once, from the first example in the thread. I've also used current countries, not defunct ones. So Gotsmanov is Belarus, not USSR.
