What is it with fairy lights on cars ?

My Kia sportage has them but I can see them from where I sit....

It's no worse than the pointless and ridiculous spoilers on the arse end of so many Subarus knocking about. I mean when you are doing 20mph around Brighton, do you really need that much downforce for roadholding ? Most other cars don't seem to need them? It's almost sad, like a racehorse pulling a cart.
