I know it has its critics but there are a few things about Withdean which are endearing and totally unique. These are the things I like:

The rumble of people stamping their feet in the South Stand - sounds like an approaching train!

Scoring half a goal in the hammer net

Being able to hear the commentator in the 'gantry' above where I sit

The ball boys having to run 50 yards to retrieve a loose ball

These are the things I miss:

Rocket Man

The Tree People

The dugouts having clear perspex so that we can wind up the opposition manager

What about you?

enjoy-
were the south stand ,were the south stand ,were the south stand brighton boys

only having one singing stand

miss-
the mexican waves

I like the stamping feet too.

I also like the sound of the wind in the trees at the start of the season.

And the way the chanting drifts off into the (K)night sky (not).

I miss having a roof that captures the sound and sends it crashing onto the pitch and encourages all the fans to sing.

Like:

Shouting "Oi! Get out of our sand pit!"
Knowing the players can hear you as it is sooo quiet!
Our home record there!
The bizare walk to the ground whilst seeing how the other half live!

Dislike:

It's soooo quiet
Getting pissed on!
Not being able to sit behind the goal.
The total lack of participation from the crowd in the chanting!

I like the crowd around me in E block. I like the walk along the running track before the game. I like the walk under the bridge from the London Road, and the first sight of the trees and nearest floodlight. I also enjoy the stamping. And I am still amazed at the way you can look across at another block who must be in full voice, but not hear a thing.

I like being in H block . Sing for most of the game and good banter in our few rows.
I like the trees and even the trains going past
Comedy moments like squirrels escaping
The stamping
Our record of Fortress Withdean

Bring back Rocket Man.

1.

I like the fact that every now and again when you yell at the opposition bench, you get a reaction.

2.

I like the camarderi of the people in our singing block.

3.

I like the "Bright Eyes" song

4

I like to hear the North stand sing ( I assume they are all asleep)

Like:
The way our opposition very rarely get to grips with the place
The view I have from F block
The south stand rumble
Goading the opposition bench (although would be better if it were perspex)

Dis-like
The constant whingeing of those sat behind us, even when we were winning championships (they also moan if people stand up when we nearly score or stand up for Falmer etc)- why do they bother going??
Getting soaked
Lack of atmosphere

That's what it was...I thought it was the Taxmans stomach rumbling.

I like:

Goals scored in the hammer net.

I dislike:

The advertising in front of the hammer net which has restricted us to only 2 'goals' all season.

Yes, but this has introduced new scoring. 1/4 goal for over the advert and 3/4 for under!

I like :

The walk through snakey lane (when dry). What other ground in the country do you get something like that ?
The characters in D Block.
Evening games (better atmos).

I dislike :

The catering (over priced sh!te).
No roof.
The fact the North Stand won't stand up for Falmer.

Any would be nice!

The guy two seats along from me cheers the place down when it happens and it's always a laugh. It just hasn't happened enough since they put up the ads. Too many lame efforts into the side netting.

I like looking into the sports centre windows on Tuesday nights and seeing the overweight lardy's wrapped in spandex, wobbling and sweating their way through their fitness classes.

It makes me feel quite lean and lithe just looking at them. I'm going to really miss that at Falmer. Perhaps one of the executive boxes could run similar classes during evening games, and make us all feel good about ourselves.
