My sister in law got a job at a stationers/book store before christmas and I have a pile of them to read. Problem is that I average about 1 book a year.

Currently reading The Pope's Children by David McWilliams and fascinating it is too.

I have read bits of that. Rather heavy going and should definitely be found in the fiction section.
You're being very unfair BoF. It's clearly worked wonders for him.

Vernon God Little, which is a bit like the Bible.

I mean, it even has God in the title...

Does that mean it's a bit like Little Women too?

The Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson.

Not his best but still worth a read if you like his other stuff.

That body swap thing was quite good the first time he did it. But after half a dozen variations...

There's not many authors where you you just buy the new book automatically tho. Irvine Welsh is one. It's like buying the new Hunter S Thompson - tho I think there won't be too many more of those

Magnus Mills is like that for me.

Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis. Not quite into it yet but a friend with impeccable taste gave it to me and she's usually right...

Funniest book ever written. FACT.

Meanwhile I'm reading The Demon Lover - book of short stories by Elizabeth Bowen.

Just finished "Jude The Obscure" by Thomas Hardy, very good in an utterly depressing way.
Now scooting through "Three Men In A Boat" by Jerome K Jerome, very good in an utterly amusing way.

I've just finished This Book Will Save Your Life by A.M Homes which was pretty good and Forgotten Voices of the Holocaust by Lyn Smith.

Currently reading The Girls by Lori Lansens which I like very much and The Golden Notebook by Doris Lessing which I ADORE!
