What a STAT - Elliott Bennett

He's a great lad, I hope he's here for the rest of his career.

I met him and was with a young lad i'd taken to football for the day. I told Benno he was this lads fav player and he actually looked well chuffed and thanked me / the lad for it - like it was a massive acolade for him to hear. Seemed a great bloke did our Benno.

How are these stats compiled by the club? Do they count an assist as being a pass before the pass of a goal or are ESPN and the FL just village idiots?

I think it's that the club have counted any where Bennett had the last significant contribution before a goal, for instance we've had a few (such as Calderon @ Posh?) where Bennett took the corner, with a goal-mouth scramble ensuing, and the ball eventually being stuck away. That wouldn't be counted by the FL/ESPN has it wasn't a clean assist. There was also Rochdale at home, where Bennett swung in a free kick, Murray headed it against the bar and then put in the re-bound.. (among others). I'm not sure I could think of NINE of them though.
