As a boy in the sixties / seventies we went on holiday to Norfolk once or twice, staying at a place called Ostend on the coast near Cromer / Gt. Yarmouth I think.

One year we came across a vending machine that served CHIPS! You paid your money and five minutes later after the actual sound of chips frying including the SHOOOSH of cold wet potatoes entering hot fat, an absolutely perfect portion of proper chips (not french fries) came out. It made our holiday I can tell you.

I have never ever seen one of these since, and when we went back the next year the chip machine had disappeared. I can only imagine that there may have been some health and safety issues.

The Automatic Chips Vending Machine convinces with high reliability and low maintenance requirements at highest use in all places. The most modern control technique and food appropriate materials ensure, a trouble free, hygienically perfect operation even in heavy use. Due to the simple handling.

The Crown & Anchor in Preston Park recently took out the Durex machines and replaced them with Porno DVD dispensers. I'm sure they had a reason.

That's great, but surely it must be microwave technology, or some other way of heating up pre-cooked chips. My machine must have been in existence around THIRTY-FIVE YEARS AGO. It was akin to seeing an actual Star Trek beam me up scotty machine now. And how did they keep cut potatoes fresh in the machine? Our minds were completely boggled by such an amazing futuristic machine, and I still have tasted fewer better chips in my life...
