I was going to start a Pompey get the beginners luck bit out of the way

Good thinking, you'll fluke a couple of wins then they'll enevatiably change owners and give you the elbow. This will
fool palace into thinking you are some kind of genius and handing you a three year contract. Do you need an assistant? I am very good at putting out cones on a pitch (ok I've never tried it but how hard can it be?)

Yes i need an assistant-what are your maths like as i feel we could fleece them
I was thinking more 5 year like you say "did a great job at Pompey & he knew a thing about ground development" CPFC2010 would love it (well i lied on my CV about Structural Engineer) still they may buy it and we could kill 2 birds with 1 stone or at least cock up the foundations of their new stadium.

Maths is my best subject!
I'm looking for about £125k and I won't be able to make training every day as I'll probably have another (proper) job.
I am used to wearing a tracksuit, will bring my own baseball cap and know how to move magnets around a tactics board in a convincing fashion. Also my vocabulary of swear words is second to none and I know all the cliches under the sun (see what I did there).

A small snippet from the Telegraph...

"It has been estimated that Freddie Ljungberg and Kieron Dyer together cost the club close to £34 million in total. Again, to put that in context, that’s pretty much how much West Ham make from filling Upton Park for two full seasons. Two full seasons spent on two players."

Kieron Dyer really is a waste of space.Everything thats wrong with football today.

Figures in the Daily Telegraph highlighted Kieron Dyer - who has made only 22 appearances, never playing a full 90 minutes, becuase of injury since moving from Newcastle for £6 million three years ago - is the top earner on £83,000-a-week. His deal, which has a year to run, includes £424,000-a-season for image rights and £100,000 in loyalty fees.

What are loyalty fees? £424k a season image rights? Christ alive. That is over three times the annual salary of the Prime Minister, on image rights alone.

To be fair, whilst Dyer did not hold the club to ransom when he signed and has suffered from so many injuries, I would be rather embarrassed to have taken so much money and given little in return. Our very own Tanno ripped up his contract with West Ham when he realised that he would not recover properly from a serious injury.
The Sunday Times Sports Rich List, is a depressing read.
It's littered with players who have offered very little but have a multi million pound price tag, next to there name.

All the time that clubs are mug enough to sign these sort of deals they only have themselves to blame. Frankly I am now getting very bored with Sullivan and Gold moaning about the state of West Ham's finances. Seeing as they made a profit from the sale of Birmingham and they're both supposed to be astute business men they should have thought this through before taking over.

I may have missed this in another thread but has any other manager ever taken two sides down in successive seasons (in full seasons that is, I'm sure someone has managed two relegated teams for part of the season)? I know no-one has done it with Prem teams but has anyone done this?

Gold and Sullivan blotted the football copybook with their ridiculous sale of Birmingham City where some Asian businessman had them hopping over him for months, and their poor communication over him was cringeworthy to the max.
Steve Bruce is a good manager (who could do a job for England) and he was messed about no end.
When that went down, there was no way I wanted them at Brighton. Why DK wanted them to get on so badly I don't know, but they wouldn't have been comparable to Tony B that's for certain - might have even abandoned us without a paddle as soon as the banks turned away from lending for Falmer.

Be interesting to see what happens regarding the Olympic Stadium now, bearing in mind Spurs want the roles of the Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) and two government departments involved in making the decision to be reviewed.

Looks like Gold and Sullivan should have stuck to porn as they're f***ing West Ham good and proper.

Gold and Sullivan never put their own money into clubs. The whole West Ham "local boys made good" is a complete load of crap. They're only there because of the Olympic stadium. As soon as the club are in they'll be looking to sell to the nearest Asian or American, for a massive profit of course

Your first sentence sums up the problem of modern football. People moan about greedy players and greedy agents but the real problems are caused by the people who meet the demands. You can't blame the players for wanting to get all they can, but why do the clubs give in? The reason is because they're scared. They think that if they don't pay the wages someone else will - even though that 'someone else' is probably in the same financial situation.

It's a crazy industry, premier league football. It generates billions of pounds of revenue (for all the clubs) and yet the participants are millions in debt.

Yes. I have to hold my hands up and say that at the time we were discussing it on here I was very keen for them to get involved. To me they seemed ideal: British business people who knew football and weren't JCLs* getting involved in football because it was fashionable. I remember at the time you were agin' the idea and I thought you were being too conservative.

Can you imagine? If a couple of things had worked out differently we could have ended up with the Brady Bunch in charge and Jim Gannon as manager. *Shudder*.

*I mean JCLs to football in general, they obviously would have been JCLs to Brighton

They won't go down that route. I think they will do all they can to get a British manager in. West Ham have gone through Zola and now Grant and both were huge mistakes. I really can't see them getting another foreign manager in. They will go for someone like Sam "the crook" Allardyce or Hughton. I can't see them going for Curbs or Warnock as both have sued West ham. Shame really as I would quite like Curbs or even Poyet as manager.

Ok, you've failed to answer two questions about when and why you moved from East London to Brighton. Should we assume that you're a bit of a plastic fan who likes the glory 'supporting' a 'big team'? Nothing illegal there but I'd like to know.

Five live just announced that the first three with the bookies include Poyet. But Tony Cottee came on and said there is no way Gus will leave Brighton. He was with him last week and apparently is totally happy at Brighton and excited about their prospects.

If Spurs beat Birmingham and Wigan get a point at Stoke then Gold /Sullivan would have taken two teams down from the Prem in the same season.

That's a remarkable feat for any manager, but a truly staggering feat for the boardroom.

Exactly, this farcical situation when clubs can merrily write off huge debts has to stop, one on these days a biggish club is going to get clobbered. I( wouldn't be too surprised if that club turns out to be West Ham. With Gilbert and Sullivan at the helm the fat lady might be ready to sing. If this move to the Olympic Arena falls through they are in deep shit. The fact that they want Newham Council to give them a £40,000,000 loan (Newham are hardly the wealthiest London Borough) is a deal breaker, this at a time when Councils are cutting jobs and services, Tottenham may have a good point here.

I do not think any West Ham fan could be accused of being a 'glory hunter'.
