reading between the lines, West Ham have pulled out knowing full well they'll be able to lease the ground at a lower cost than it would be to buy and run it. clever.

Not really. The OPLC have pulled out because they know that going ahead would mean a trail through the courts for years. This way they can still have a planning application in place for the stadium to be ready for a 2014 start. Works out all about the same for West Ham and hopefully it means that they Mayor won't cough up a penny to spurs.

Not really.

yeah, reading again, i probably misunderstood. but the money mentioned in teh Beeb piece does suggest West Ham would be better off. the "anonymous" report to the EU is comical, i wonder if someone will report the £17m grant that Spurs have on the table? :lolol:

Orient should be allowed to groundshare.

Take it down to 25,000, like originally planned, and allow Saracens and Orient to groundshare - subject to their ability to pay the rent. Surely the Olympic stadium has to be better than Copthall for Saracens.

25,000 capacity ground for lil Leyton Orient?? How f***ing depressing would that be on a match day

Thought this was an interesting tweet by Nick Szczepanik at the Indy today (also posted in other thread)

West Ham as tenants at Stratford will be an upscale version of Brighton at Withdean, only with no Amex on the horizon.

What an absolute shambles, and all so entirely predictable.

West Ham are potless and wanted a big ground on the cheap, Spurs and Orient were obviously not going to want a local competitor getting this sort of deal and both of those clubs were also angling for new ground deals.

They would have been better off simply rebuilding the Crystal Palace Athletics Stadium. And for those who say the transport links are crap the old Crystal Palace at Sydenham Hill was hosting the Festival Of Empire exactly 100 years ago where on one day (Children's Day) 100,000 children attended.
