I remember being in the North Stand for that game against Man U but had no idea at all till now it was Beckham's debut :dunce:

I think I know who the 'Brighton Reds' banner belonged to as well

I also remember a f*** off great banner in the away end saying 'BRIGHTON REDS'.

Oooh, what I would have given for a flamer-thrower.
i was in the north stand that night and can clearly remember that banner. edwards played so well that night i thought he would be going back on the team coach to manchester.

 Was it you, GB? :lolol:

Certainly not

A mate of mine from around that time went to every Man U game home and away and lived in Brighton. Though he denied the banner was his it was just the sort of thing he'd have done to wind us up as most of our other mutual friends where Brighton fans.

I was in the North, and was delighted to see the back of Danny Wallace, who'd caused us trouble all night. I remember thinking "why are they taking Wallace off for this nobody?"

Yep I was there. Happy days. I recall the cries of "who" as he came on, and also remember Ferguson saying he was one for the future. He must have been sober that night!

Made me chuckle recalling his debut as I watched him lead his country in the World Cup Finals in Frankfurt. Small acorns and all that.
