Lost count of the number of times we pulled the ball back for a striker to slot the opportunity home only to find noone in position. Wtf do they do at lancing. Apart from practicing defending (haha)

We were one dimensionally shite, with no plan B.

Wilder knew that our tippy-tappy sideways and backwards passing couldn’t hurt them, as they kept 8 outfield players always goal-side for insurance, and he knew we didn’t have the personnel and tactics to try something completely different. Just 90 plus minutes of powder-puff possession. The normally excellent Mooy was harried in packs from the first second.

Giving a coaching manual for every other PL team to nullify Albion’s attacking strengths.

Hopefully Potter has other plans.

We were absolutely shocking today.
We could not string a pass together.
After seeing our performance at Palace on Monday night where we ran the show, today's showing was feeble.
SUFC deserved their win, but we sure made it easy for them.

Let's not try and justify that performance by pretending SU are some World force in football. They all played teir roles well but we were shockingly sh*t. On a par with the decables end of last season at home to Newcastle, Cardiff, Bournemouth etc. In some ways worse. We all looked as it we did not give a toss and had been on a Xmas piss up until 5 am this morning. As bad a performance I can remember in the premier league. Infact no player should be picking up any wages this weekend. We seem to be making progress under Potter but that horror show makes you question if we actually are

Brighton were poor.

Unless they used some Jedi mind trick, the mistakes from the players (Stephens passing to no one, Webster not defending, Ryan dropping twice, etc) were not influenced by their style of play.

They made us poor. Started the game excellently, didn't give us any room or any time on the ball, threatened themselves whilst we offered nothing, and then we simply never recovered. We were rattled.

Someone quoted a post on their board saying 'every team says they have their worst game against us'. You can see why today - and we did too. They made us poor and we had no answers.

Also easy to see why they sat deep second half. They did their homework and knew we're poor in the final third and struggle to create.

This

When we beat Arsenal and Spurs, all the talk was about how poor both sides were, no credit to how we played. Today we were made to play that way because of how they set up. I don't think Sheffield United are a top 5 team, but with a very good manager in Chris Wilder I can understand why they are where they are. Good luck to them. Loudest away fans this season.

Every Blades player had a precise role and they carried it out to the letter. Allied with an always pass forwards philosophy. Absolutely no interest in being possession kings. Exemplified by McBurnie and McGoldrick making Dunk look like Michael Keane. If they keep this up, Europa League deservedly beckons.

Whilst the Brighton players muddled away in their indistinct, almost experimental, roles.

A traditional football team versus a disjointed collection of flustered pairs or lone players.

You should’ve gone to the Bournemouth game last season. Or Newcastle. Or Cardiff.

a galaxy far far away
They were very well organised Sheff Utd, but had very little final third quality.

We were terrible. By far the worst i've seen since the Bournemouth and Cardiff games last season.

Yet they had strikers clean through on numerous occasions, thwarted by a blend of incompetence from both sides.

The dull part of the south coast
A bit of both in that they forced us in to being poor initially - but after that we made our own problems. They are very organised and cynical and can press or play on the break. Good side - but we chose today to have our biggest off day of the season,

Yep! That just about sums it up. An off day all round. Suck it up and move on.

Fortunately many other teams in the league wouldn't be able to do it as well as sheff united. Outstanding first season back in the prem for them. Their fans absolutely bouncing at the station post game, and who can blame them

Credit to Sheffield Utd, they defended superbly, kept their shape throughout and worked hard not to give us any time on the ball in danger areas. They got what they deserved. The table doesn't lie, they are a decent side although too many of our players had off days today.

One of the many things we fans are particularly bad at is crediting the other team.

As the saying goes:-

'Their coaches also get paid'.

As said in the game thread, 'now we know what it felt like to have played against Brighton'.

Wilder did his homework, played to his teams strengths and the ran us out of town.

This is life, own it, live with it, learn from it, then move on.

Completely agree. I'm surprised they made us poor only has 15 votes. It's no coincidence we played our worst game all season against a team unbeaten away in a year. They did their homework and made us utter shyte, end of! That was very much the view post match on the train/in the pub too.

Like you say, only one game and we learn and move on

We were poor, Sheff U just worked much harder and were much more organised than us.

Chris Hughton put in 3 or 4 displays like that and got sacked. It was as bad as those
