Hmm, like others have said, there are a plethora of great modern stadiums in Europe for the final - weird that Wembley gets it 2/3 years. Having said that, if there is something untoward about the awarding of it, not sure who it would suit to expose it really.
obvious "keep them sweet" tactic deployed by UEFA so we dont harrass them like we did with FIFA, bollocks I say, another country deserves this prize not us.
"Commercially, Wembley was also a massive success. The FA cleared a profit of more than £1million — compared to around £250,000 for a major rock concert — and it was even more lucrative for UEFA. In Rome at the 2009 Barca v United final, the most expensive ticket for a supporter was around £125. At Wembley, the standard tickets were £225, with £300 for a ticket in the Club Wembley area, rising to £4,000 a head for a seat with corporate hospitality. Total ticket revenue, Sportsmail understands, was somewhere in the region of £50m."
UEFA have found a new cash cow to milk.
Its also an "unbranded" stadium (unlike, say, the Allianz Arena in Munich), which means it doesn't clash with any of the established sponsors.
