Nearly always the same with the elder politicians speaking their minds, sometimes bitterly against their party... Heath and Benn come to mind, and those that still have a genuine care of the community, Jack Straw. I despise 95% of politicians and have met a fair few through my previous job, they tend to only be interested in themselves... Straw is a different breed.

I think we need decisive action for once on this as it looks like a catalogue of abuse has gone on for many years and the Muslim community needs sorting out.

Bollox to the racialist issue if you live in the UK you abide by our laws.

It’s been going on for years and years that gangs of Pakistani men going round hunting white girls for sexual abuse.

Leeds, Huddersfield, Burnley, Birmingham, Rochdale, Preston, Oldham and Derby to name a few.

The last government and this one and the police turn a blind eye for being labelled racists. I always told my girlfriend’s daughter to always be home before dark and never talk to Asian men.

I would definitely agree living in Huddersfield you know it goes on, group of Asian lads cruising around in cars trying to pick up white girls who have maybe had a few too many to drink. I believe it's down to partly the religion repressing these men e.g asian women off limits etc ( due to muslim faith and no alcohol) young asian men feel distanced from the english culture that cause the minority to act like this.

Also to be a bit contraversial most white girls don'r generally find asian lads attractive meaning less opportunity for lawful shenanigans.

It's just a pity that only politicians who careers are coming to an end have the balls to comment like this. Any other up and coming minister would keep his/her mouth shut for fear of upsetting the leadership hence damaging their future.

To be fair Jack Straw knows the area better than any of us so his comments must be taken seriously, I appreciate this could lead to some bad racial tension in an area that suffers from this already, but, he is entitled to his views.

It's a great shame that we, in this country, can't have a sensible open debate about these sorts of issues. Unfortunately, between the media wanting sensationalist headlines and not caring about the content, and many areas of society who actively want to be offended and to take offense, you only have to mention anything related to get labelled racist - whatever your arguments.

I'm sure Jack Straw is bang on would he really have gone on tv and said this if he wasn't aware of the problems it could create. As said earlier Jack Straw is very familiar with the area. People who live in Brighton, Worthing etc sometimes don't realise how fortunate they are not to have these high concentrations of foriegners in their town so find it very easy to judge.
It certainley brought it home to me when i move dup North - It really does have an effect on where you but a house etc for reasons you would not have considered in most of Sussex.
