I worked in Westminster for three years, don't for one minute think things will change. Legislation and reality are two different worlds. Legislation is for sound bytes.

And another thing... nobody gives food or blankets except charities, I have never seen a member of the public go to a tramp and offer them food or blankets... it's a nothing piece of legislation.

An ex-flat mate of mine lives in Westminster and she gives food and blankets to the homeless. She used to work for a Womens Shelter, so it is an issue close to her heart.

I'm not sure how they think this legislation is going to help or are they hoping that the homeless will move onto another borough?

Perhaps they are trying to freeze the homeless to death, all I know is I have never seen this from anything but charities, which makes me think it is soundbytes and legislation that will not actually make any change or difference.

I see, so Westminster Council have decided to stop charitable efforts as it might tarnish their image. I'd just love to see that stand up in court. I suppose that they just want the homeless to move to nearby boroughs, I bet they'll be thrilled. Maybe if the Westminster tried to do some more positive, like using the many emply office blocks in their borough as shelter would be a good start. I suppose that Westminster Council believe that the homeless are so as they want to spend their lives on the street.

Banning people from giving food and blankets to the homeless. Looks like the start to clean up centeral London for the 2012 games has started.

So if you give food or blankets to a homeless person, from where do you get banned from.
Are they going to put an electronic bracelet on you to make sure you stay out of Westminster.

I was wondering what the so-called Olympic legacy would be. It appears it's giving porn barons a stadium they can hack up and killing tramps

Could I be arrested for disposing of an unwanted blanket, by leaving it neatly folded on top of a wheelie bin, quite near, someone who needed it?

Making it a criminal offence to help the Homeless. Anyone caught will be subject to a fine of £500 I think. It was being discussed on LBC last night.

So I suppose the next step is to euthanise the disabled as they make the place look untidy. I was working at Westminster Council just before Christmas, I can tell you the staff there do have a very nice staff restaurant.

Perhaps they might do what the southern Dutch town of Heerlen did to their junkies a few years back when there was a royal visit, in an effort to clean the place up they put them all on a bus and sent them to the zoo for the day. Maybe Westminster Council could hire a holiday camp somewhere and just send all the homeless away for a couple of weeks when the Olympics are on, that should tidy the place up nicely and stop them from being an embarassment to the country.

With so many homeless being our ex servicemen, I look forward with anticipation to the report of one of them braining a westminster councillor.

The problem with that is that they would have trouble finding a Westminster Councillor's brain.

Why is anyone responding to this thread? It's clearly a poor fishing attempt

Because it is a serious conversation. I know people who have lived on the streets because of their Drug/ Drink addiction or because they were being abused at home but have now got jobs and roofs over their heads. It's not a life style to be recomended!! By the way, Westminster council will charge you for not having a Fishing licence!

Bearing in mind this is primarily a football site will you ever post something on that subject ?
