Interesting tweet just now - evidently from the radio this morning

Virgil Van Dijk wants out to fc groningen, he tends to english football

hmm I had a bit of a dig into that one. The journo named (Stef De Bont) is on twitter and there is a tweet from the man himself which translates as "Do not always believe everything you hear and read"

So it looks like Virgil is blocking me, I assume it isn't personal, although when he tweeted the other day he was out to lunch with a female I did send him a list of recommended places in Brighton.

VI Radio: "Virgil van Dijk wants out at FC Groningen, he tends to English football"

Stef de Bont's just for VI Radio detail on the transfer vicissitudes Virgil van Dijk. The Fur with Hans Nijland, Virgil van Dijk and his agent, Martin Henk Chin gesporoken, and De Bont has the impression that Virgil van Dijk and his agent believe that now is an ideal time to FC Groningen to leave. Brighton is seen as a very nice club. The team plays in the Premiership it to the playoffs for promotion to the Premier League, is ambitious and would like to promote, has a beautiful stadium and there's money to the club.

He would also accrue to much time, what with a move to a club in the Premier League insured is no certainty, eg look at Patrick van Aanholt and Jeffrey Bruma to Chelsea who were determined not based clients.

At FC Groningen he walks determined not on his toes, he is one of the better ones in a not good running team in particular to stop and potentially will have to fight against relegation, says Stef de Bont. In short - this a week running winter transfer window is considered as an ideal time to leave.

Agent Chin takes 2.5 to 3 million pounds (€ 3 to 3.6 million) a fair compensation for the expiring contract until mid 2015 Van Dijk to buy, the first bid of Brighton will probably well below that price are located. Hans Nijland says Van Dijk in a mad bid '(' mad bid ', or a good offer) will be sold. Does not that bid, and Brighton is also the only club that concrete interest for its present, then Virgil van Dijk finish the season at FC groningen, estimates the FC Groningen-watcher of International Football.

The big question is: When is a bid by FC Groningen as economically irresponsible to repel considered? FC Groningen wants according to De Bont prize, but how high is that? It is clear that Virgil van Dijk is currently the only jewel in the selection is that for a relatively high amount can be sold. De Bont thinks in Groningen supporters will be restless as Virgil van Dijk this month is sold. Daarim he undoubtedly right.

A lot can be lost in google translation, but sounds promising to me. 'mad bid' now also being translated as 'good offer'? Sounds like someone with a good attitude, wants to play, seems to be considering the benefits of Brighton beyond just money...but maybe all just part of the game, still trying to flush out offers from other clubs?

Bizarre Transfer Speculation - Virgil van Dijk

It sounds like he wants to leave but the Club won't sell without a ludicrous offer. Shame.

FC Groningen are trying to price Virgil van Dijk out of a move to England - with Brighton and Sunderland increasingly frustrated in their attempts to land the young defender.

Van Dijk is ready to leave Holland and has been linked with numerous Premier League clubs in the past.

Newcastle and Everton have watched him previously but their interest has cooled, while Brighton are also keen.

Sunderland have been linked with the 21-year-old as well but Groningen are playing hard-ball over the price.

The Dutch side want around £4m for Van Dijk - a fee that is proving a stumbling block to the player's wish to move to England.

We should offer whatever we originally offered with a clause to pay the difference to get it up to £4m if we go up. See how they respond to that.

One of the two positions of interest the club are trying to resolve took a big step forward last night, I do not know which one but know a positive step forward occurred.
I have kept this very vague as I would be identified by those concerned if i say any more.

But:kiss:

Can I at least ask where the other "position of interest" is, other than at centre back?

Sounds like brinkmanship to me, they'll take to the last day of the window. Pity we don't have an internationally renowned poker player at the club to negotiate................
