I was thoroughly pissed off yesterday to discover that Arsenal's new stadium is almost complete!

How do Arsenal get planning permission and bricks laid in 5 minutes and we can't even get anywhere in 7 years?

EXACTLY!!!!!

How Arsenal were permitted planning there is crazy. This huge stadium overshadows every terrace house that surrounds it. And just like Highbury, the access to the new stadium is simply ridiculous! :shootself

thing is though they faced no real opposition(apart from spurs fans!:D ) to build it and they already have their own tube line which i think will help with the travel.

they obviously have a supportive council and local populus, as well as the finance to put assorted compensatory measures in place for anything they disrupted, unlike Brighton.:glare:

Having worked in a near derelict build (that belonged to Islington Council) which happened to be next to the Islington Borough Corporation Tip it's down to the fact that the area could not be described as 'an area of great natural beauty'.

The only nimbys there were a handful of shopkeepers who will be moved to new and far better premises plus a few whingers who bitched about traffic. The new stadium is part of a huge development which is very much to the benefit of local residents.

Oh, being Premiership Champions was obviously a factor.
