Actually, in regular child fashion, when I was about 8 my mate and I used to make crank calls to the operator, or people in the phone book. There was a Mr Smelley in there we used to call, and suggest he use deoderant or stop farting.
I later found out by looking in the family tree, that he would be a relative!
