Following two lunchtime raids on unconfirmed addresses in Berkshire and Humberside, Police from the two forces have confirmed they are holding two men in custody.
It is widely believed, though at this moment unconfirmed, that the two men, both professional football managers have been involved with a nationwide string of burglaries and thefts.
It is also thought that they have been working in tandem, relying on a web of informants, supplying information on soft targets throughout the country, but predominantly in Sussex.
Several addresses in Brighton suburbs have been targeted, Surrenden Close, Preston Park and Withdean having been particularly badly hit.
Police are unsure at this moment exactly how the thefts have been planned, but are convinced that both men, who have worked in the area, have built up an extensive portfolio of the wealthier properties and the assets they contain and then returning for them at later dates.
As the evidence is pieced together it has become clear that there are definite links between both men and the Sussex area and police have urged local people to be on their guard and not accept calls from people claiming to be interested in looking at high value assets with a view to purchase at auction. \once the men have earmarked the piece they want, they simply come back at a later date and steal it.
A statement is expected to be issued later this afternoon by the Metropiltan Policeforce, as both men have been moved to a secure station in the capital.
