Phil Barber, from the FA, says that his understanding is that we would be thrown out of the tournament. Full stop.

Also Garth Crooks is pissing me off because he is asking a disproportionate amount of shit questions at the press conference.

Official Tournament Regulation excerpt:
Article 7
Refusal to play, matches abandoned or not played through the fault of a
national association
7.01 A national association which has entered the Competition undertakes to play
all its matches.
7.02 Unless Article 29 is applicable, fines for refusing to play will be set on a case-
by-case basis by the Control and Disciplinary Body. Furthermore, a national
association that refuses to play will not only be disqualified from the
Competition, but will also forfeit its possible share of the net revenue, as
provided for under 25.02.
7.03 If a team refuses to play before or after the beginning of the qualifying
competition, or in any play-offs, it will be disqualified, and will forfeit any
claim to financial remuneration from UEFA.
7.04 If a team refuses to play before the final tournament itself, or prior to the
quarter-finals, semi-finals or final, the UEFA Administration is empowered to
decide on a possible replacement. In selecting a replacement association,
the UEFA Administration will consider the results achieved by the
associations eliminated previously. The UEFA Administration’s decision is
final.
7.05 If a team that qualifies for the final tournament is unable to compete for
reasons of force majeure, the UEFA Administration will decide whether
another team may qualify in its place. In this case, one of the losing teams in
the play-offs will be designated to take part.
7.06 If the circumstances surrounding a refusal to play are deemed serious
enough to justify such a step, the Control and Disciplinary Body is
empowered to take any additional action it deems appropriate. This action
may include the right to suspend the association concerned from the current Competition and/or following competition, and/or from any other UEFA
competition.
7.07 If a match cannot be played or cannot be completed through the fault of one
team or its association, the Control and Disciplinary Body will either award
the match to a team by default, disqualify the team concerned from the
Competition, or take any other disciplinary action which it deems appropriate.
7.08 If a team is disqualified during the qualifying-competition matches or at the
final tournament, the results of all of its matches will be declared null and
void, and the points awarded forfeited.
7.09 The UEFA Administration may, on receipt of a well-justified and well-
documented request from the association concerned, set an amount of
compensation due for financial loss incurred, provided that there is no
proven misconduct on the part of the association in question.

So yes, disqualification for a no show unless extenuating circumstances qualify.

I thought they had already made a statement that they would not go on strike?

Great preparation this.......

Ferdinand should do the decent thing and say publicly that if the players want to show solidarity to him they should go and make sure that England qualify for Euro 2004 so that he has a place to fight for once he proves his innocence, and that National pride is more important than his personal issue.

They whine and whine about no England fans turning up in istanbul so they don't get thrown out, and then try and get themselves thrown out because one of their team mates has f***ed up? Bunch of spoilt, prima dona shitstains, if you want my opinion. they're representing their country, this isn't a f***ing pub team(although they play like one most games).

This smells of Gary Neville and the rest of the Man U mafia putting their mate before our country. Would this strike nonsense be contemplated if it were Darius Vassell who was suspended?

f*** 'em off Sven, and get some players in who really want to play for the 3 lions.

I would like to think that our lads have some bollocks, but this squirming smacks of them being pussys.

Imagining that our players carry the colours fearlessly onto the field of play can be misleading, especially when you hear that they were 'overawed' by a limp Brazil in the World Cup . That was disappointing, and a poor England that represent us in the biggest meet in the game come away losing to a crap side that were afraid of us beating the crap out of them in the first place!

England should throw out panty-wearing ponces and get in some players with guts enough to snarl at the Turks at their place.

In the final analysis though, it's still utter bullshit that they ban England fans for this. If the Turks are such a danger to fans, throw THEM out of the tournament !!

It has nothing to do with Man U

All they are pissed off about is that Rio's confidentiality has been breached.

In Drugs cases in the past ie bosnich etc they are never named unless proven guilty and had an FA hearing!

Strike off.

The full England Squad will fly to Turkey tomorrow.

According to BBC News.

(Unless Alex Ferguson can get a bus load of flying pickets down to Luton Airport, that is)
