There are seats on trains that are to be given up to elderly, disabled or pregnant people.

If you sit in first class without a first class ticket you will be liable to a penalty fare.

No but rules are rules aren't they and the type of jobsworth people that work on trains are no going to apply common sense to them.

Very genalistic point - some of the Southern staff are quite resonable people IMHO.

I've never had any problems to be honest and use the trains every week. One guy who sells tickets at Soton station is always mega grunpy mind.

There's one arsewipe Graham Kelly lookalike on the tickets at Three Bridges - had several run-ins - mainly over him insisting on seeing my Network card for 266 consecutive days, when he blimming well knew I had one.

I bloody looooved it when they installed new ticket machines that actually work and I take pleasure in using them even when there's no-one in the queue in the hope that I am helping to put him out of a job.

If you have bought a ticket for a specific train in or out of London and you miss it due to a connecting train being delayed through no fault of your own are you not allowed to travel without buying another ticket (on the day at inflated prices)??

As I said above, you can go to the ticket office and explain what happened and they might stamp your ticket for you. I missed my train to the Ipswich game cos the Tube was down. The nice woman at Liverpool Street sorted me out no problem.

Your an idiot for paying extra. There is no way i would of coughed up anymore

So the alternative was to be escorted off the train by transport police at Derby. Didn't really fancy that.

I have always had positive experiences with train guards, although in this case Mr Biehn, you would expect them to use their own initiative and accept that you have paid for a ticket and unfortunate circumstances meant you missed your train.

I have suffered from numerous cancelled trains or late trains, should I charge them??

Thats a point I have often thought. I do not get why we have to poke up with their mistakes but they get to f*** us over if we have made one, in this case not leaving 3 days before my trian was due to depart.
